Corran's for the Chop

By Red42, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Can't decide how to spend the last 5 points left over in this list, whether it be add some torpedoes to Chopper just to have a rear-arc threat, or change something up elsewhere?

The fundamental idea is to ram Chopper up close as quickly as possible and cause bumps and generally be annoying whilst Corran uses advance sensors and ptl to get in the perfect position to deliver lethal double taps. Combined with Chopper's 4 attack dice (5 at range 1) I'd hope it can burn things down pretty fast, and then have late game survivability with Corran.

Corran Horn [R2-D2, Advanced Sensors, Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade] (49)

“Chopper” [Fire-Control System, Autoblaster Turret, "Zeb" Orrelios, Han Solo, Ion Projector] (46)

Total: 95

Add Flechette torpedos to Corran and Chopper, that way you can stress an Ace if needed.

Or Upgrade your turret to Ion Turret and get single Flechette torps.

Yeah, flechette torps are handy to deal with higher PS aces, or just a proton torp on choppy would be okay. I can't think of anything else you could spend points on....it seems like a pretty good list as is!

Double flechettes sounds like a good idea, to add more control to the list. I think I'll try it that way first, as soon as I can get a game in.

Personally, I find FCS far more useful on Horn over Adv Sensors, if you drop that then you can use the 6 points left over all on Flechettes (2 on the Ghost, 1 on Horn) gives the Ghost a little more flexibility so it doesn't HAVE to turn around.

I always used to play Corran with FCS, when I played the VI version. With PTL I really want Advanced Sensors so I can push and then reveal a green to stay unstressed. It also helps prevent him getting blocked, which a lot of lists seem to aiming to do at the moment. (Bumpmaster, a lot of Ghost lists, swarms etc).

I still don't how advanced sensors can be of use to Horn. Can someone explain it to me?

Use advance sensors to action, push the limit off that action for a second. Reveal a green manoeuvre, clear stress immediately, and regain a shield with R2 if you've lost any. End the turn unstressed with a fully open dial for next turn.

Ahh, so you can trigger PTL before revealing your movement dial. Neat trick.

There are a number of ships that can do this trick, and it surprises me how many players don't know about it. Basically anything that can take an EPT and has the systems slot. Its very useful and powerful, but takes a bit of practice to get the most out of it.

Also EI Lando/Advanced sensor VCX.

I suppose I could also swap Chopper out for Hera with Intel Agent instead of Zeb and Engine instead of Ion Projector. Not sure which version is better.
