if this is wave 3 in its entirety then count me amongst the sad pandas
Will FFG reveal 2 more SKUs at Adepticon?
My gut feeling is that this will be it for Wave 3, and that it was a bit of appeasement to us players. I have a feeling that with the upcoming change to when Worlds will be for Armada, that FFG will be releasing one wave a year, with it timed to hit the shelves just after Worlds. This will give players a full year to adapt their fleets to the new ships and upgrades. This seems to be what they did with Wave 2, and only makes sense that they continue on this course of action.
I hope that's not the case. I can see a lot of former fans walking away.
If they want to do one wave a year, at least make it a regular wave of 4 ships, if not a super wave of 6 ships.
If they want to do small waves then they should do multiple small waves.
One small wave really reads as a massive FU, and I think the fans who don't like it have every reason to be upset.... If it turns out to be true.
With only six months between this year's Worlds and next year's Worlds, and provided my guess is accurate, we could be looking at potentially at least 6 ships released within about a 9 month timespan. The flotillas seem to be basic enough to not upset too many fleet designs prior to this year's Worlds.

I'd been thinking something along these lines as well. That perhaps the flotillas were a "rushed" release, originally planned on being part of something more. That unrest among the community may have convinced FFG to release these two ships and the new mechanic, while postponing the rest of the "wave" and instead giving players time to adjust to the new rules and pushing two "regular" ships into more of a "superwave" of 6 ships later.

Time will tell. ![]()

I think the change in the Star Wars Tournament track following this year's worlds may have thrown several things into a bit of chaotic disarray that only time will sort out.
Five goats, and twelve kittens, and a shiny quarter. I think?
I'm not to be negotiated.
As to folks walking away (and not saying some won't), we should take a page from history. Diablo 2, World of Warcraft, and other games have alienated players in the past to the point they gave up...right up till the point the game/expansion was released and they were back.
Even if "Splash III" does drive some away, if months from now there was a 6 or even 8 ship "Tsunami," how many could resist coming back?
"Holy $#!^! Interdictors, Dreadnoughts, Assault Frigates, Neb B2's, Assassins, Liberties, 'Full size Home One,' and Executor?! ... You are forgiven FFG; forgiven your past transgressions, and loved once more. Even though my wallet has died of cardiac arrest, my family has left me, and I must forage for nuts and berry's to eat. These things do not matter! For all is right with the world once more." ![]()
I must forage for nuts and berry's to eat.
that's pretty hard right now if you are on the northern hemisphere, you should have foraged in the fall and dried them.
You should be looking for edible roots of biennial or perennial plants before they use up all their stored energy
Unless you live in the americas I guess you could try and find lesser celandine, seen it everywhere. little tubers and leaves are edible but boil em for two minutes and change the water and repeat to get rit of the toxins first, I guess it's also the season for tree-sap, and I've seen a lot catsfoot sprouting up which is a minty herb.

Ah, Springtime. The starving season. Our community is truly in danger. Soon it will be lowest scoring player gets eaten.

Assassins, it is, then....

nono, there are so many dandelions and daisies and the aformentioned lesser celandine around you'd have to be crazy to starve, and nettles to prepare like spinach. and like so many herbs you can add to soups.
they're not that tasty but starve? nah, if you know your plants it can't be done mate.even if you did forget to keep your apples dry and airy, your berries freezed or dried.
also you should count at least 1 dove per person if you elect to take them for dinner but remember that's not strictly legal without a license ( at least where I live) so I won't tell
( I prefer to get my food in a supermarket myself)
Edited by GeressenSo, if we are going to talk timelines:
Wave 2 was announced in April, 2016, but was not released until November, 2015 because FFG has been having supply chain / production related issues.
Perhaps they have learned from this, and are now giving announcements without a 6+ month lag before the release date; in that case, if the flotillas are out this summer, we have approximately 6 months between waves, which means that we could potentially have another before the end of the year. At that pace, I would prefer not having 4+ ships dropped on us every 6 months given how complex and ever-shifting the meta for this game is (likely only more so when flotillas hit, as the value of squadrons and squadron activations are about to go berserk in a way we have never seen before).
So here is my real question: if FFG is going to drop two new (and well playtested) ships on us every ~6 months, why are we upset? Isn't that pretty much the ideal timing for everything? I get that people want OMFG LARGE MODELZZZZZ!!!!1111one!!!! in every release, but I would argue that the flotillas are actually going to do more to change the game than another medium or large ship would, most likely.
Edit: Also, guys, Agent Kallus was in this wave. That means FFG is basically starting to look at Rebels (the show) for Armada as well, and I'd just throw out that there are a bunch of ships which are now canon in there that could show up in Armada. It's not like they don't have plenty of material for 2+ more waves beyond the flotillas already in the can.
Edited by ReinholtThose light cruisers from rebels look swell.
That last episode of Rebels was swell, to say the least. And don't forgot the carrier the Rebels stole.

They brought Maul back...again. Is there no end to the limited imagination of these show designers?

So mock it if you like but they are bigger fans than you ever will be.
ships every six months??? It could very well be 10 months between wave 2 and 3. I could totally get on board with the small wave every 6 months, but unless gencon proves me wrong, it definitely appears that armada is an afterthought as far as FFG is concerned.

Agreed!! Same here.
The Show's designers are the biggest Star Wars nerds out there. They know and reference material from novels, old toys from the late seventies, the original concept art and stuff from the long forgotten role playing games. Also Maul was left alive at the end of the Clone Wars and made a slave by the Emporer, we knew he was coming back at some point. But to have him be a wild card in the storyline instead of a slave for the inquisitors is an interesting angle.

How would you know how 'big' of a fan I am? And I'm not disputing the show's creators are starwars fans. But to bring back a character that was cut in two by a lightsaber before falling into a reactor core....might as well bring Palpatine back.
I'm in this group as well. Just stating that there is another side, and people aren't crazy for not being happy about the lack of community engagement from FFG.

A release every 6 months would be great. Assuming wave 3 arrives in Sept that would be 10 months from Wave 3, which is terrible for a very small wave. If waves are smaller the game will be too stagnant for too long if the release gap is 10 months. A smaller wave every 6 months is fine, but they are way off course right now.

I know you're not in the group of "doomsayers," so this isn't directed at you, but you did phrase it in a way I want to seize on.
The new ships bring a completely new mechanic to the game. These aren't just new ships with different costs/damage dice/etc. Far from an afterthought, the amount of play testing put into this would be quite significant.
We may not be happy only two ships are coming, but this release is neither afterthought nor death throes. ![]()
completely agree with that. These two ships will change the game as much as wave two did I think. Again I just think it is the general lack of involvement from FFG.

Well, it a space fantasy franchise in which people have survived worse. I mean Anakin lost his arm and legs and had lava splashed on him for good measure. Others can will themselves back from the dead as ghosts. The force does weird stuff. Also, even without the force angle (which is what they said kept him alive), Zabrak physiology could be different enough to survive something like that.
Truthfully, I am glad they brought him back because he was a cool design that was completely wasted in the movie. TCW actually gave him a personality and made him interesting.
