can you play this as solo game?

By Cthonian, in Runebound

Hi there ! I want to ask if you can play solo this game ? I saw from this site that is for 2 or more players but in boardgamegeek is even for 1 ..

arkham horror can be played solo and i am searching other games as this ..

Yes, Runebound works fine as a solo game. The Rulebook has no special rules for solo playing, but it has a couple of variations that you need to adopt for a challenging game.I played a lot of solo games in order to get familiar with the system and contents(incl. expansions), and I say I had my fun.

Basically, Runebound is a solo game that can be simultaneously played by 2-6 people. It plays at best with 3-4, 5-6 is overlong (turns take 2 to 5 minutes, depending on actions and player's skill), 2 is still fun but nothing more than a slow paced race for victory.

Besides winning mechanics, Runebound is tactically sound and rich of things to do or understand. You may need to buy an expansion after some time to keep things fresh, but it's a good game that can be played solo and doesn't require the long set up of Arkham Horror (which is a better game by all means, but Runebound is more than ok if you like fantasy adventure, character levelling, challenges, dice rolling and lots of items).
