Broken doors?

By Stugol, in Doom

In the TileSystem editor for creating Doom levels, it shows two images for a normal door - one straight, the other bent. I assume the latter is supposed to be "broken" and not usable. How would this be represented in the game while actually playing?

We just put it on the map crooked, or only half way on. That seems to do the trick.

When I play with broken doors, I place them as normal like a normal door. When a marine tries to open it, I simply say it's broken, and watch my players' faces when they realized they went to a dead end. Such is the suspense in Doom. Is that door ok, is that door stuffed, should we go to that way even though it might be a trap, excellent.

I agree with Knuckles. Broken doors simply fail to open when the marines try.

Isn't there a skill from the Expansion that can open broken doors?

Not that I am aware of.

The only door skill I can think of is the one where a marine can keep a door closed by standing adjacent to it (making it an obstacle for invaders on the other side).
