What year are we in now for 3E? Was 2523 in 2E right?

Thanks,

Jay H

It appears we've rolled back to just before the ramp-up to the Storm of Chaos (the same as WFB 7th) - 2522 at the very latest, though if 7th is a guide, 2520 is the latest dates that appear.

Anybody got WFRP3 handy to look? I recall seeing it, but dangit, forgot to note it! 2521 sounds about right, but wasn't there some discussion about the timeline being moved farther back?

jh

I don't have the books on hand, but I want to think I saw reference to Karl-Franz being relatively new and untested, which would indicate the 2510s or teens.

I think I'm going to set my game in 1999, so the players can visit mordhiem and deal with von carstien

That could be a fun setting; I'd love to have an intro adventure that invovles characters arriving in Mordheim the day before IC 2000...

Heck yes!

I'm actually dusting off some old Ravenloft adventure modules for my campaign. Heh.

Come to think of it, I wonder if we could get a bunch of forum members together to write up a Von Carstein campaign.

Heck, it could even be written with split rules (2nd AND 3rd stats, for example), just like old school WFRP books, which had both stats for the RPG and the battle game.

...Hmm... new thread possibility...

I'd contribute where I could, if just because I think it would be fun to run a distinctly old school Warhammer campaign that parallels as a send-up of the modern Vampire craze. Perhaps involving an unwanted, unsponsored, cult worshipping the Von Carsteins...

Ooooh boy. A plan is forming... Let's seriously start a thread about this possible fan made collaborative project...

According to An Eye For an Eye it is 2521.

The introductory adventure, correct?

The book says 2521.

So:

Karl-Franz has been Emperor for nineteen years.

Nuln was beset by a *cough* mutant uprising seven years ago.

Boris Todbringer launched his war against the beastmen of the Drakwald four years ago.

Tzarina Katarin has ruled Kislev for four years.

Something happened on the isle of Albion last year. The Empire, and other nations, sent forces there for unknown purposes.

In the past few years Norse raids have increased, as well as portents of doom and destruction. Clearly, the end is nigh (and clearly not an end that will result in some generic villain besieging MIddenheim and then cutting out and leaving after everyone gets involved).

The Warhammer many of us first learned to love, in other words.

Not familiar with this, I assume it came from WFB? Could you expound a little? And yes, An Eye for an Eye is the intro adventure. It doesn't specifically state the current date - but it does say something happened a year and a day ago, and something else happened 5 years before that, and that year was. . .

So, you add it up and it comes to 2521.

The details are probably best ignored; it was one of GW's summer campaigns, with all the goofy, forced plotting characterstic of those events. It was a lead-up to the Storm of Chaos campaign involving armies arriving on Albion for various reasons as the mists cleared. It does have some cool ideas, I thought (some of which appear in one of the Gotrek and Felix books), like a hidden micro-climate and ancient Slann lab, but was poorly implemented.

Wiki has a fair amount of detail on the campaign.
