Random Q, how many of you have bought 3 core sets?

By keltheos, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Just wondering who has gone out and bought 3 full sets to get a full spread of cards allowed in a single deck.

We've had fun with a 'shared' single box, but the $50 price point to get a 2nd of each of the 'rares' just isn't grabbing us. I have a feeling we'll be buying multiple boosters vs. the core set though.

I bought three sets just because I couldn't stand not having playsets of cards. Whenever I built a deck with just one set I'd always think stuff like "I wish I had 3x Rip Dere Eads Off! and 3x Bloodthirster to see how it runs as a finisher (quite brutally, I must say)" so ended up getting two more and I haven't regretted it. In the UK I got three sets for less than the price of a single booster box of Magic: the Gathering, so I look at it as money well spent to feed my card game habit ^^

Sticking with my 1x Core Set, closing on 30 games played. Will keep an eye on the FULL spoilers (hint, hint people) on the Battle Packs, but so far only really waiting for the Companion set with Delfs and Helfs.

Only one so far but looking at getting a second at least. Or seeing if a friend buys one and I can buy some of the extra cards I want from them.

Bought 2 (wanted to have some flexibility for making decks right of the start)

Wil also only buy 1 battlepack each month (main habit is still AgoT)

I've purchased two so far and I'm resisting the temptation of buying a third. I'll try to convince one of my friends to purchase a box and trade me my missing third dwarf cards. I wouldn't mind giving away my destruction cards for them.

I have 1 yet and 2 others are ordered.

Heya!

Got 3...I'm mostly going to be playing Chaos, Orcs and Delfs, so that also gives me plenty of Empire, Dwarf and High Elf trade-bait! :-)

And can't wait until Friday and The Skavenblight Threat (also getting 3)...It must come quick-quick, manthings!

L-

Got 3 of 'em. Had to - the game is just THAT good/fun. Plus you can get them online (CoolStuffInc OR Thoughthammer) for like $25 each. That's about 85 dollars in total when you factor in shipping AND you're not paying Sales Tax. Great deals online. :)

I haven't, but I will give the thumbs up to Malinari up there pointing out that buying three core sets (even in the UK) is cheaper than buying a box of Magic boosters. Probably not cheaper than buying a box of Kamigawa or Lorwyn Magic boosters, or even an outdated set of Pokemon, but still cheaper than a current set of Magic boosters.

Still, I won't buy three core sets. Having only one Rip Dere 'Eds Off! is a burden I'll have to work around, I guess!

Kinko's my good man, Kinko's. Or Staples. ;)

Bought 3 on release and I'll be buying 3 of everything down the road.

I bought 3, but one will be relocated (still in its wrapping) to to a friend's on 25 Dec (yeah, Santa). I may buy more, but to create a pool of friends with whom to play.

As for me, I've come to the conclusion that x2 is ideal. More choices regarding deck building, without having to pay 'premium' for a few cards. Explanation: Buying the first set of a Battle pack gives you 40 cards for say £9, subsequent purchases see the ratio £9:10 cards. As some of the cards present in the core set x1 have a higher cost, I think my strategy is adequate and fit for purpose.

If I find an expansion/battle pack with a lot of cards that I NEED for a deck, I may buy it x3, but that's unlikely.

All of the above plus some extra tokens and markers as replacements for burning/damage. gran_risa.gif

By the way, I just came out with an interesting, and free, combo for Dwarf+Empire:

Peasant militia on steroids:

* Peasant militia: 0/E

* Organ gun: 0/DD

Attachment. Weapon. Attach to a target unit.

Attached units gains +2 power while defending.

*Knight training: 0/EE

Attachment. Skill.

Attach to a target unit in your battlefield.

Attached unit gains +1 power.

So, potentially at no cost, you have a unit in your battlefield with stats 1/3, wile defending 3/3. Not bad.

How often does BZ see the need for defense in your games?

Actually, that's a good wider point. How often do people end up defending in their Battlefields?

I would love to buy 3... But I don't play even nearly enough to justify the expence. (they're about 69$ a piece over here). If a league comes up and running in Oslo I might do it to be able to compete at the highest level, but otherwise I think I'll stick to the one I have. I will however buy (atleast) one of every battlepack, as my collector-urge compells me to do so.

I've bought two so far for some deckbuilding options, and am considering a third if the game really takes off as a secondary option to the Magic fanatics currently playing at my local store. I'll likely pick up two Battle Packs when they release, and then decide on the third from there. That third Stand Your Ground makes it tempting though.

I haven't got any yet, but I'm ordering 3 from the warstore during their black friday sale.

I bought 3 core sets. I find this game very refreshing, and I have deck ideas based on cards present only once per set (so, x2 or x3 core sets are better to build such a deck).

Same for expansions as soon as they are released in Europe.

Nope. The reason I got out of CCGs is that it quickly became a game of whoever had the most money wins. I bought my one starter set, and I'll buy one of every expansion, and my friends and I will probably play from that collection of single purchases between us. It'll be more fun that way.

Even if you bought 3 its still much cheaper than CCG's. I plan on buying a second or finding a friend to split one with.

My girlfriend got me two core sets for my birthday and I ended up loving the game so much that I decided to order a 3rd set. There were just some amazing cards that I simply wanted 3 copies of, and a bunch of cards that I would like 3 copies in a few different decks. I can see this being my main card game for a good long time.

Even if you bought 3 its still much cheaper than CCG's.

That's not really what I'm arguing. I'm not saying it's expensive to play, simply that the dude who runs out and buys three core sets and three of every expansion will most likely win more often than I will with my one copy of everything. It's the LCG's version of the power-gamey nonsense that I dealt with in the CCG world, just on a smaller scale.

I'm psyched that I can buy one of everything and have games with my opponents just fine using just one of everything. And that's how I plan to play it. I just dread what'll happen in the leagues.
