Vehicle combat

By Mrakvampire, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Is there any rules about vehicle combat? For example in my last game I had to resolve situation when one of my players with a car wanted to ram an enemy on full speed.

Does this maneuver requires Drive (Ground Vehicle) test? How difficult? How can enemy avoid this 'attack'? If not - what damage will it suffer?

You'll want to look up a pretty obscure pdf-file called "Dark Heresy Apocrypha: Vehicles and Riding beasts" that used to be uploaded by Black Industries when they still ran the show, but has since been taken down and can be tricky to find.

I think you can find a fan-made modified version of it over at Dark Reign, which should do just fine.

EDIT:

And just because im such a nice person, here's the link to the original (found it just now):

And dont forget, if it's painted red it goes faster.

I really wish FFG would finally publish these rules in an upcoming book, or at _least_ post them on the DH support site. It's one of the rules questions I see coming up over and over again. I was hoping they'd be in Rogue Trader, but no dice. Any idea if there are any plans to put vehicle rules in future supplements?

I have no idea, but I agree with your sentiments.

Although im not sure I'd want to see these specific rules published (because they include some design issues that I dislike), I'd like to see an "official" set of rules for vehicle combat from FFG somewhere down the line. Preferably something that follows the same principles of the well executed starship combat in Rogue Trader.

Of course, the scale and certain physical laws would be completely different between two starships fighting in space and two ground vehicles locked in a destruction derby, but certain similarities in rules philosophy for the two would be very handy.

I think the basic issue is FFG developers don't like the rules, and want to fix them. The problem is they have not managed to find time or space to include them. It's obvious that RT as huge as the book is had a lot of stuff cut out of it. (For example torps, and small craft rules.) As there are references to them here and there.
