Will alien & flare questions

By oliver!, in Cosmic Encounter

1. If Will encounters one alien's ships (such as Virus') on another alien's planet (such as Mind's) and wins, which of the following occurs?:

(i) Will both eliminates Virus' foreign colony and gets its own foreign colony on Mind's planet;

(ii) Will eliminates Virus' foreign colony but does not gain a new foreign colony of its own [to get a colony on Mind's planet, Will must encounter Mind];

(iii) Since Will's card reads "Any other effects caused by the drawn destiny card still take place as usual," the result depends upon what destiny card Will drew before deciding to encounter Virus on Mind's planet; #i above occurs only if Will had drawn destiny for Mind; had Will drawn destiny for an alien other than than Mind, then #ii above occurs.

2. The Will wild flare allows a player to encounter another player outside her or his home system. If the Offense is successful in such a situation and does not already have its own colony on the planet, does the Offense merely eliminate the Defense's foreign colony or does the Offense both eliminate the foreign colony *and* get a new colony of its own?

1. Answer (i) - the defending player's ships go to the Warp, while the offensive side's ships land on the planet. Mind, while being in possession of the planet, is not involved.

Will ignores Destiny entirely - it picks the colony (group of same-colored ships) to attack; that colony then becomes the defense, no matter what color the planet is, or what the Destiny card was.

In the same vein, the Will Wild Flare also allows you to both destroy the colony you attack, and establish a colony of you own. Where you attack doesn't have any bearing on whether or not you establish a colony.
