The Dice

You could house rule that if all the dice come up blank, you get to re-roll. It is considered a failure by RAW, but if you also get no advantage or threat, what's the point? lol

By that logic, in other games like D&D, if you miss by 1 you should be allowed to reroll.

And if you had a D&D game where against all probabilities the players kept rolling 1s you might make a similar house rule.

In this thread the subject of what to do with a wash is brought up, and one of the ideas put forth is re-rolling it. I don't think, I would allow it, but if all my players really wanted to try it because of horrible rolls, then I'd probably give it a shot.

And what all would a player call upon for boost dice? I could see, like, elevation granting one or two? But other than aiming, what else would you recommend for getting boost dice?

Off the top of my head:

  • Aiming
  • Assisting another player in a task (if appropriate) provides that player with a Boost
  • Passing a Boost onto another player as a result of rolling an Advantage
  • Rolling Advantage or Triumph on a Fear check can provide Boost
  • Lighter-than-normal gravity adds Boost dice to Brawn-based skills and also Coordination checks
  • Attacking a prone character with Melee or Brawl gives Boost
  • Firing a weapon with the Accurate quality provides Boost
  • Making a social check against a character with whom the PCs have a previous relationship provides Boost
  • And, my personal favourite, GM-dispensed Boosts for DGRP (****-good role-playing)

Pretty much all of those are RAW, I think, except possibly the last one...although I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the CR somewhere.
