How to deal with X-wing spam?

By PackPack, in X-Wing

You guys know it's the first of April right?

Post was made yesterday, though.

Hmm.

In which case. The answer is - just about anything, just don't joust it.

April Fools y'all.

Even if it's an April Fool's joke, it warms my heart to think about.

I thought this'd be about the spam the forums received recently

cause otherwise, it's like asking about how to counter woolly mammoths

As a trained Archaeologist I will have you know that this was a serious problem about 12000 years ago in North America.

I liken the Tie Fighters to Japanese Zeros and the X-wings to P40s. If you're flying Ties don't joust. Use your speed and maneuverability to flank them. Block them to deny them actions. You'll always outnumber the Xs use the numbers to your advantage. The only maneuver that they have that's better than yours is the speed 1 straight. Dont over take them.

Did well with Miranda and three Rookie pilot Xwings last I played. Nothin but wins. Loose formation but willing to split to cover tails while Miranda zooms about sniping or drawing fire.

That said.. I think I surprised people. They must have forgotten what Xwings do, they are seen so little.

Honestly the answer is fly some arc dodgers and do anything but joust. A pair of aces like the Inquisitor and Vader should kill an xwing a turn not horribly infrequently so just come in from the sides and outmanuver the stiff dial that lacks any repositioning power.

tie advanced spam.. with accuracy corrector.. and prockets!!! and title of course...

I like spam chopped up in my star wars macaroni.

To be honest, you don't even have to fly arc dodgers if you just fly ships that don't get in their arc. Like the strategy that I posted before you don't have to really do arc dodgers. Just use some tactics and good placement to hit them where they can't hit you. It doesn't have to be arc dodgers. Yes, they are good to use, but I hate to just turn things into Soontir Fel and friends all over again.

X-wings dominating a meta???

What foolishness is this!?!?

Everyone grab your pitchforks and Fat Hans, we have to put these people in their place!!

April Fools y'all.

It's a Poe's Law problem: there have been enough unusual questions from new players over the last few months that it's now nearly impossible to tell the difference between a well-executed, straight-faced parody and the real thing.

Yeah, for those of us on the west side of the Pacific that was a pretty obvious joke. Sorry for you folks a day behind over there. This thread is great.

Nice April Fools OP

Ties as ZEROs and Xwings as P40s is the best description I've ever came across.

Sigh... and here I thought my observations were well founded and laid out nicely.

Well I got an April Fools joke for y'all too!

I don't know **** about kicking ass at X-Wing. I stole that bit from a Paul Heaver article.

Pretty poor aprils fools in my book!
