Objective Help

By chriscook, in Star Wars: Armada

I am running 4 vettes and mc30 zombies Jan, wedge, xwing and 2 yt24s. I don't know what to use for my Blue Objective. Not sure if Superior Position is any good. I worry about lots of bombers and their ability to get to my back arc since I have so many ships. HELP!

Thanks

Dangerous territory is a good one. It doesn't net you a whole lot of points, but with a fleet like that, it's solid.

I am all for Superior Positions sounds good to me. Though, you may want to be first player in a list like that.

It's rare that I would say this, but you might even think about not taking Jan to reduce your point total. Replace her with Dutch maybe. Unless you really want her Intel. The 2400s do pretty well on their own with 6 HP and Wedge obviously doesn't need her braces. I dunno. Just a thought.

With the maneuverable ships, minefields might not hurt you to bad.

I second Intel Sweep. It is definitely the safest one. Superior positions would be nasty against you if your opponent brought max squadrons. So many butt shots!

Kind of depends what upgrades you've got in there, but I'd really look at Superior Positions.

CR90s don't have much trouble getting into rear arcs, and if you're running Engine Techs and Turbolaser Reroutes then get ready to rack up the points on Superior Positions.

Likewise, the MC30 is fast enough to go skipping into someone's rear arc.

At high speed and with some nav commands to increase your yaw (command 1 and 2 make this easy) you should be able to make rear arc shots difficult against you.

You've got a pair of 2400s too, and with good speed, Rogue, and black dice that's more chances to nip away at rear arcs.

So what's the risk on Superior Positions? As was said, it's squads chasing your small ships. This means one of two things, they're either running loads of Rogues or have ships stacking squadron commands.

All your ships can outrun Firesprays, and unless you refuse to turn your ships while you're doing that even with Rhymer the Firesprays should only get a brief time when they can hit your rear arc.

Spammed out YT2400s could be a problem because of their speed. Maybe try fitting in Dutch as one of your squads to shut them down before they can start chasing you.

Rebel bomber wings only have speed 3, unless you plan on flying right through their squads you can normally decide whether or not to move into a range where they can reach your rear arc.

Rhymer Balls with Corrupter, well, that's going to be able to chase you easily enough. Only real option I can see here is to let them jump one of your ships while the rest race into the rear arc of their Corrupter and avenge their fallen comrade.

I just really like Superior Positions...
