I think we will be waiting a couple more months for more news. When Imp Vets gets closer to release we will get something. They always need us to be wanting the next thing. Always.

I'm wondering when they will reveal the Rebel Vets stuff as they could definitely put a Rogue One X-wing in there. I would assume they will have 1 wave in between Vets as they did with Aces. So if that release won't be until the very end of the year, Wave 9 will probably be out a few months before that, meaning we have plenty of time to enjoy the Wave 8 stuff.

If I'm running FFG, and Rebel Vets was building off of Rogue One, I would make sure it was timed to launch around the same time as the movie... and as Christmas. Even if that meant that it went W8, Imp Vets, Rebel Vets, W9.

More likely any Rogue One related stuff gets released on this years Star Wars toys day.

It's normally 2 waves a year, so they can totally put out wave 9 in the fall or something and then have rebel vets come movie launch. I don't see how they wait until next year for wave 9.
