How much is a fortune?

By rgrove0172, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Let me make this my last post. Im taking Grumpy's advice and leaving the forum to you few asshats.

Many or rather most of you have been great and I am reluctantly parting company. I really enjoyed many of our exchanges and you have given me tons of great info as a GM new to the system. Thanks so much!

To the rest of you (you know who you are) that purposely step in to almost every one of my threads to spread your sanctimonious dribble and hate, well I wont profane the forum here but... you know what you can do to yourselves.

There are other forums on the web discussing this game. Im off to give them a try.

Totes not an alt guys.

Bye

Ok, wow... its pretty obvious now we got mixed up on who was logged in when commenting. Switching around on a phone most of the time was probably a stupid idea. Easter is over but I guess you can still crucify the both of us.

At any rate. It appears longevity trumps civility on this forum. We could go and complain and all that crap but really, whats the point?

You guys enjoy your gaming, really.

Uh huh, sure, the ol phone switcheroo mistake, who didn't see that one coming.......

You know the really funny thing? Going back through the thread, I've not actually called anyone any names, implied or otherwise*. I'm not sure where this persecution complex comes from.

*I guess one could make a case for calling someone a poor GM as being a jerk, but really - that's an opinion, not an insult.

Truth can be painful...

sanctimonious dribble

What the hell does that even mean?

Apparently I'm demonstrating my moral superiority by outting him as a liar I guess.....while bouncing a ball.......

So I originally noticed the oddity of the post in the locked thread, buddy. I didn't call it out, but if I saw it, then everyone saw it. I'm not known for my visual acuity. It's not entirely obvious that it was different people posting because they were in the first person. So, you can see why there might be some confusion.

You might in fact be carrying the cross that other bad actors have placed upon you - there have been others that were more "inciteful" than insightful so sometimes suspicions run high, and I think enough evidence has been provided to prove why.

All that said, I caught it and I decided to not only keep quiet, but to give you a second chance because I would like to be the kinda guy that does that. I hope to inspire others to that banner, you included. You have posted a number of meaningful threads and I would like to see that continue.

As someone who took a year out when things got heated... I kinda get sad when newcomers feel dogpiled.

But some of them do seem to come in 'all guns blazing', alas.

And as has been said, this forum is far less hostile than most.

I do feel a bit bad - but that overreaction is all on those two. Statement Zero was a really inoffensive post, even if I did mean it in an jerk way (which I didn't).

I've mailed and interacted with a great many of you, and we're close (as far as an internet community goes), so if someone of the Old Guard thinks I've too heavy a hand - not just here, but anywhere on the forums - I'll fully expect - nay, fully want - someone to tell me to dial the hell back.

But that was not flip the table, take your ball and go home, worthy.

Good stuff and thanks! Yes, you have the same idea I did that the Empire does indeed maintain a closely guarded monopoly on the mining, processing and transportation of the stuff. Just being in possession of it without proper licensing and permits is a felony.

The alliance is always eager to get access to weapon grade and imperial restricted materials.

Nope, hardly earth shattering to criticize someone's approach to something. Plus I believe all I did was confront the fact he was lying, mostly because he was lying. So that in turn made me sanctimonious, but of course it's ok for him to start cussing at people.

Double standards, hypocrisy, thin skin, and lack of integrity are nothing to miss.

He is guilty of the same in post after post if you search.

I honestly don't think he is.

His sense of humour is offbeat, but he's not inflammatory in my opinion.

"If all you can come up to do to your characters is to F them, then you are a terrible GM."

I defy anybody to find anything even slightly funny humorous about that remark. Seriously?

Desslok, 2P51 and a few others apparently take great satisfaction out of posting rude and degrading comments on a new player's thread. Ive only been a member a few days and I already see the pattern.

Enough for me - "Sorry buddy, find another place to hang out is my suggestion."

So I took a few days off from the forum, glad I did. This thread is killing me. I see all you "old hats" out there running it again it for everyone!!!! How dare you Desslok tell someone what you think!!!! Who cares if you have been playing this game since the Beta! You too 2P51!!!! And oh god, Happy!!!! I'm never happy when he is around! Mods lock this thread now!!!! Crap, themensch is going to start throwing in some common sense next! Mods!!! Where are you, please don't let Maelora post any more!!!' Who cares if you guys (and me) have been posting here for years!!! You all suck!!! (And me!). Yes-----total sarcasm here.

Huh? I didn't realize I was even involved in this thread. Now the last post has me wondering what I said.

Oh yeah... The penguin *****/volcano bit. I guess that makes me a monster.

Because you are one happy!!! And yes, my last paragraph was done in sarcasm. Making fun us "old timers" here. ;)

I only read through this thread because it was marked hot and was so long. I was expecting some really stimulating discussion. Instead I find a bunch of kids whining and berating each other. I'm new to forums in general but kind of dissapointed. Hope this sort of thing is a rarity.

Well, there's always a first time! I'm old and there are wolves after me.

Okay, so I’m going to be 50 this year, and I live in a neighborhood where we are close to a greenbelt here in Austin, and we literally sometimes have Coyotes running down the street.

Granted, that’s usually late at night/early in the morning, but there don’t tend to be too many pets that roam free outside and stay alive for long in this area.

So, does that count for anything?

Fairly new to the system. The players have just managed to get their hands on several containers of Nergon-14, the new active ingredient in the mix for Proton Torpedo construction. They have 5 barrels with about 70kg in each. Id like this to be worth quite a sum but don't want to hand them the kind's ransom or anything. So how much should it be worth? I was thinking maybe $200 per kg? Its supposed to be pretty rare, an improvement over an older ingredient no longer in use. That would be $70,000 for the lot. Is that enough? Doesn't seem like a lot but I don't want them being able to just go out and buy a ship with it or something? It should just take care of operating expenses for a good while (months)

Legends sources list the bounty on Han's head as worth well more than a YT-1300...

WEG 2E, p 142...

Luke, 500,000 credit bounty

Han, 200,000 credit bounty

Chewie, 100,000 credit bounty.

All from Imperial Intelligence.

Chewie's not quite worth a new YT-1300, but Han is. Luke can get you a Sil 5 cargo carrier....

Sure! I had coyotes to the north and to the south of me last night, who am I to judge?

I had a private chat with RGrove after he PM'ed me. I don't think he's a bad sort - I fear he just over-reacted a tad and got burned by it.

I reiterated I always found Desslok amusing rather than snarky and that 2P51 has always been helpful to me.

I said I'm sad to see newcomers getting burned, but I do feel he contributed to it in the Range Band thread (and since).

I suggested he take a break and maybe come back later as I did when things got heated.

I think some newcomers come charging in with 'this sucks', rather than 'hey, this didn't work for me'.

I feel this forum is friendlier than most (and I have regular arguments with some people on here) and I don't think us regulars are rude or unhelpful, for the most part.

No, but this is like the third or maybe fourth time now in under a month that I keep seeing venom slinging. Some threads have been shut down even. In my post, I was just making fun of a lot of that and I think it was GMKR saying that it was a bunch of posters, some I listed that always contributed to the threads that got shut down. Hence my fake rant at them. And also at my self, from another thread, at some back lash at me for telling someone I thought they were a bad GM, then getting beat up over sharing my opinion. Sorry if someone is going to pretty much brag about how they screw over players, I have my right to state my opinion too. But yeah...anyways.........................
