Scum Squad advice...2 or 3 ships?

By Cpt Barbarossa, in X-Wing

Hello all,

I have a small store tournament coming up, and I'm putting together a scum squad. Since the tournament is in Paris, most of the top ranked players will be there, and I am still a new player, so I'm not expecting any major wins. I would however like to hold my own against these worthy foes... Here's a list I put together, and would love some input:

Kath / Firespray - 38

Rage - 1

Dengar / Jumpmaster - 33

R5 P8 - 3

Syndicate Thug / Y Wing - 18

TLT - 6

BTLA4 - 0

Unhinged - 1

I'm sure most of you have spotted the logic of this list:

- Kath has 4 ATT with rear shots (5 if range 1), and can reroll 3 with Rage (or maybe put Wired instead?)

- Dengar has 2 ATT in arc (3 if range 1), and can fire again after a defense roll if target is in firing arc, AND R5P8 can add 1 extra damage after defending.

- Thug has TLT with title...enough said

Question is, have I spread myself a little too thin? Kath and Dengar feel light...too light maybe? Do I go for a heavy duo, or a lightweight trio and cover more ground / present more targets?

Please feel free to tear my list apart and suggest other combinations (I have a fair amount of cards/ships, and can probably proxy if necessary...)

Thanks for your advice

Dengar without the title or munitions is not worth the points. Two attack is paltry, and R5P8 just means people will deal with the dangerous targets first and plink Dengar to death once they've finished.

Kath doesn't have good enough green to clear the stress from Rage without anything else added, and wants more mods to really make the best out of her abilities on her off turns. I like Rage/K4 Security droid on a Scum ship with a crew slot, maybe, so you can get some modification on the turns you're recovering from Raging.

You're spread too thin, for sure.

Thought so...

Thanks for the input. I wanted to throw something crazy down, but I guess I went full retard...!

Maybe just Dengar and Kath fully pimped? Both fairly agile tanks from what I can tell...

Dengar/Kath could well work; I don't think I've seen Kath much in competition, but I do enjoy flying her.

I am considering the following two myself. Should be able to deal with most of the current meta:

Dengar — JumpMaster 5000 33
Predator 3
Recon Specialist 3
R5-P8 3
Punishing One 12
Ship Total: 54
Boba Fett (Scum) — Firespray-31 39
Veteran Instincts 1
Glitterstim 2
Engine Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 46

- Palp + 2/3 aces (Boba PS10, and Dengar has R5-P8)

- 3xU-boat: Boost / barrel roll into range one

- Enough output and hull to deal with a swarm, just dont get caught with your pants down by 4 crackshot ties

I think it will be the weakest against a Stress/Control list.

Well now!

Yesterday I got my butt handed to me by Dengo and Kath. Points if you can guess the reference. So Kath plus Dengar is not weak. Skip the extra ship and take the title on Denny. You can safely PTL all over the place and just drop shots on fools all day. Take Gonk too and slow roll in. You only need 2 shields on Gonk for him to do his job.

Nice, love the ideas, thanks for the feedback. As the day went by, i came to see how ridiculous it was to spread them so thin...bye bye Y.

Malc0r, I'm liking your list, especially R5P8 with Dengar, such a good combo. Not a huge fan of predator though: i don't like rerolls, i'd rather take the focus. Foolish maybe but i feel the true strength of predator is in the second "PS2 or lower" section, and i just don't want to spend 3 points to help destroy one lousy PS1/2 ship. Rec Spec is interesting, i never considering that outside of my HWK/Moldy combo...

Darkcloak, Gonk is so appealing, but i'm worried he'll end up taking up more space and points than necessary. For me, it's a close call between Gonk and K4... With PS9, is it not better to concentrate on dealing better damage with a free TL than spending actions getting back a shield?

Here's where I stand:

Kath 38

PTL 3

EU 4

Inertial Dampeners 1 (I kinda like the idea of tricking someone into coming right up behind me or crossing my rear path when they're not expecting it...thoughts?)

Dengar 33

PTL 3

K4

Punish One 12

R5P8 3

or maybe

Dengar 33

Expose 4

Gonk 2

Punish One 12

R5P8

That way, i run a greater risk with expose for an even stronger attack BUT I can count on Gonk to recover some of the initial damage loss from the opening jousts (and R5P8 if he decides to lay some damage on me too)

Thoughts?

Personal feeling... add the Engine Upgrade to the Y-Wing on top of the Unhinged Astromech. That bird with dance like the ballerina hippos from Phantasia!!

if you are not doing brobots you will want 3.
