Hero Dashboard

By wesg92, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello everyone,

I made some custom hero dashboards that I'd love to share. Below are some images of the front and back of the dashboard as well as a link to download the high-res PDF files for printing. These are 10" x 18" in size at 300dpi.

Would love to know what everyone thinks.

Thanks!

I, like most people, use some form of on-line file sharing site. I happen to use DropBox. I think you get about 2 GB of space for free, and it is really easy to use.

Pretty cool! At the very least this would make it clear what gear every character can wear at any given time, although I'm trying to think of a solution for double-handed weapons... Might use a wound token from civilization haha.

I like it but the equipment/skill card sizes seem wrong in relation to the hero sheet. I could be wrong though. One thing I like about your sheet is the stamina and health areas. I dislike how cluttered the hero sheet can get when you have a lot of each token on it. You should make one for the overlord too to keep track of monster health. I have a hard time tracking the health for different monsters and also hate picking up their damage tokens whenever they move.

I very much like the idea of a hero dashboard. We play on a rather small table so managing space is always a challenge.

The only way I can think of keeping track of a monsters health is by labeling them and having corresponding trays for each of them. Could work, but not for me because I have a somewhat small table:)

I think it's a cool idea, but have you thought about the fact many cards needed to be exhausted? That's the main issue with that type of project in my opinion.

The board has 3 spaces for exhausted cards, but like you, i'm iffy about a dashboard. This one is nice though.

Really good job, simple design yet very efficient. The turn summary is a nice touch, but since I always ask my hero players to use the reference/activation card to signal turns being over (as suggested in the rule book) it's a bit redundant for me. However, the space where you placed the summary text is where I would place my activation card, so again it's good use of space.

If I find them time I'll get it printed out and test it for a few rounds.

I actually use these:

not the most elegant solution but they have left no marks on my minis and they are very easy to peal off and replace.

And as cdj0902 mentioned, I got a damage tracker sheet off of board game geek that's been working pretty well for me so far. I just match the area on the sheet to the color dot of my minions and viola, a lot less clutter on the map. For the Kobolds I just drew a tiny black dot in the center of each sticker and gave myself 8 color coded dots to work with instead of the original 4 :)

I can't think of one of the top of my head, but unless there is a card that requires you to place a token of some kind while exhausted I don't see a problem. You could stack exhausted cards on top of each other and just check them before refreshing on your turn.

Excuse the previous double post :P
One last thing about damage/fatigue tokens, I've been holding them all in 2 to 4 shot glasses (depending on # of players in group). Easy to pass around, no mess no clutter.

Thanks everyone! I'm waiting to hear back from legal before uploading the source files. Hopefully I get a response soon.

Nice, going to use it When you get it out

The only problem I have with this kind of dashbord /monster tracker and similiar stuff is the place it consumes on the table.... I would like to see how it looks on your table with a complete dungeon and all the other stuff around.... I mean with 4 heroes you would have 4 of them...

I think that looks great. Something I would like to use, and I think my friends would like it too.

Thanks everyone!

The original post has been updated with a link to download the PDFs for printing.

Please note, these are not official documents.

Enjoy!

Exactly this.

I got the official hero dashboards for D2e from the game night kits but had to abandon using them because of how much table space they used.

I get jealous whenever I see the zombicide black plague dash boards :(

Thanks for mentioning that! I feel another project coming up :P

Oh yes, those Black Plague dashboards do look really cool.

I didn't know they came out with official dashboards, could you take a pic and pm me?

make it a bit smaler so you can fit it in a a3, remove overlord turn cus he is not going to use hero dashboards, atm i have to cut out some of the stuff or compress it and then the cards wont fit, move the stamina next to the health and the hero text to the old stamina place, you can remove one exhausted if you like, when a hero have used a card thay stack them on the same exhausted and instead add a condition frame and text, make a frame for the hero tokens, add a frame for items thats is not used atm

You mean a5, right?

Because a3 is bigger than a4.

For every number higher you fold the paper in half... or is that a different kind of scale? (not sure if there IS a different kind?)

Kaisho, I guess the image probably has a different aspect ratio than an A3/A4/A5 has.

And A3 is probably the size needed to fit the cards in the rectangles?

Yea you need a3 for this or you cant have the right scale, but atm it dont even fit on a3

I was a bit curious, too and searched YouTube. When you look for descent game night kit there the first hit should be a fairly nice unboxing video in 720p showing everything in there including the dashboards. Looking at the video I'd say they look nice and clean, but at the same time a bit 'sterile' for my taste ... and they also take up quite a bit of space on the table I guess.

I am working on a 3d printed dashboard. Unfortunatly my laptop broke down so I have to wait at least two weeks to finish it. Are there people with 3d printers out there? Because I am planning to do design other organizing tools (like a OL deck holder and such) for players with smaller tables and some feedback would be very welcome.
