Hey, sometimes gameplay can be enriched by limiting options. There is nothing wrong with sticking to a theme like OT ships and builds, but there is thematic backing for pretty much any Y-Wing build you can think of so I wouldn't sweat it too much. However, if I'm not mistaken it was the BTL-A4 that was flown during the Trench Run.
Meta widening distances with the OT ships
See where I'm going here?
If anything the Y-Wing needs some attention to bring it out of it's "ordnance-only" pidgeon hole.
Unless that's where you want it for games that focus on the original 3 movies. I mean, why not just use it as an ordnance only craft? It's great for that. You can make a lot of missions around them that way.
eh...poor Y really has nothing on the torp scout or even the Tie bomber when it comes to unloading ordnance
Yes, but they have turrets, which makes them kind of like WWII Bombers.
I repeat, we are simply going to focus on OT ships 4-6 weeks because 3 out of 6 players want it. All the contents of X wing are good, and we fix and twist a lot. Bomb carriers Y since...wave 3 perhaps. Modifications on defenders, variety of EW Pods...x wing is so "intuitive" that you can do a lot. Simply add some new cards ans titles and try to show in the game that idea in your mind.
One day a child from the neightbourhood and his grandma came to see the models ( then perhaps 100-120 ). She opposed to let the boy play "war" games. So we played a little race and capture the flag game, improvising some eeeeasy rules.
Many ways to play...a game...you know...
Edited by HexdotI take the view that the OT was just the pilot that launched the Expanded Universe; kinda bummed that the show finally got cancelled but it had a good run and I can watch it on Netflix anytime I want (not literally).
Most importantly though: the K-wing is the only reason I started buying into the Rebel faction as I was finally able to field the New Republic's New Fleet squadrons within X-wing.
Nothing wrong with the Imperial side of things, as for Rebels:
X - Saddest panda, but Poe is a thing and sure, its not an original X-Wing, but it still means the style of ship sees the table and is awesome. I'm sure FFG has plans to make this prominent with Rogue One on the horizon.
Y - TLT stressbot is a thing it turns out.
B - Kind of sad, but also the most likely to benefit from Guidance chips and the like. Just might not be in the form of spamming Blue Squad.
A - Prototype is good. Jake is good. That's more than a lot of ships can say for themselves.
So its fine with a slight need for improvement, IMO.
So the one half of the group has to conform to a limited scope of what constitutes OT to the other half?
I seriously don't see why you couldn't run your Y's however you wanted. I mean the theme is there, so... Just because someone didn't explicitly fire a turret weapon from a Y-Wing in the movies shouldn't disallow any of the very viable Y-Wing builds.
You can't really say "only bomber Y-Wings" because those weren't even the Y-Wings they used in the films. Sure they had a Proton Torpedo payload, but those were BTL-A4s. So I guess if you really want to stay true to the films then you have to run A4s.
Don't worry, Rebel Veterans will fix our beloved T-65. Hopefully...
