I think like a lot of people I am looking forward to the Bounty Hunter sourcebook.

The RPG department don't use the "In Development" feature on the website for some reason, probably due to the lead time on each book being over a year and erratic in length for each individual book (some take 12 months, others 18!) If they put them all up as in development we would know that every career was getting a source book

Probably because of threads like these. People would start bitching about how long a given book was taking or how dare it not make a "given" delivery date... yadda yadda yadda. I've seen on other forums for other companies, so they stopped releasing any information until the book was ready to hit distributors.

Data analysis is pretty much my thing. I have pages upon pages of spreadsheets analysing all sorts of stuff.

You have data analysis down pat. Now you just need to work on font control...

But seriously, from sales and marketing point of view (my filed of expertise), this is an interesting conundrum. In the years after the initial rule book release, there will be a delcine in sales of the Core Rules book. Hence the strategy of releasing 3 different versions of the Core Rules. It makes sense setting wise, and it also creates excitement, but in reality they really could have released only 1 combined book.

Then we get to supplements. Each supplement will see slightly lower sales than the previous. Exciting content might see anomalies to this statement, but I am sure that isn't the reality.

So where does that leave us as fans? FFG now have 3 settings that require books, and we each want all settings to release books for different (personal) reasons. I am not sure if this is the best tactic they have chosen.

The other thing you need to consider is that as each FGS sell out of a supplement, and orders it, it means it goes onto a back order that FFG feel they may (or may not) need to reprint. This adds to cost, and needs to slot into a printing priority over another book, be it a new supplement or an different reprint, or even a different game altogether!

The only thing I need to know, is that "Special Modifications" is already out of stock.
And it's a sourcebook for one of the (In my experience) lesser played professions out there.

So, I think the RPG line of products is doing just fine.

Yeah, I remember talking with Eric back when he made the decision to break WEG up and sell it off. He'd made a number of decisions that in hindsight ate into his ability to run the company. Things like ordering too many copies of various books to be printed and ending up with a large amount of product to store for long periods of time. Product that he paid upfront for that never sold.

TORG sold years ago to some German company that started producing the titles again (not sure they added any, just printed what they got from WEG) and other pieces went elsewhere. Surprised it took this long for the WEG name itself to go somewhere.

Interesting - I didn't think that there was anything left to buy. Ghostbusters had long since fled the coop, Star Wars and Indy of course have moved on, the Masterbook games (Shatterzone and that Pulp Noir game, whatever it was called) and TORG were sold off and Paranoia has been with Mongoose forever.

Oh yeah, they did spin the D6 engine off into it's own generic GURPS/Hero like system didn't they? Forgot all about that!

I hope my original post did not come off as "bitching". That was certainly not my intent! I'm glad that FFG takes the time and effort to put out quality product first time, every time. My concern is not that any individual book is taking too long or missing promise dates, just that we went from having a vast array of cool stuff that we had public confirmation of down to having nothing. Even if a book is months out from release, knowing that it is in active development and is coming "soon" makes me feel good about the line.

If they announce early people complain when the book doesn't come out on time. It seems to be lose/lose for them. No matter how they do it people are going to complain. Though it's worth pointing out that glut of vast books was mostly due to a dock workers strike which prevented books from being shipped on time thus resulting in a time span in which it seemed like a whole lot of stuff was hitting at once when in reality they had been better spaced and forces outside FFG's controlled said otherwise.

How about giving both the relevant stats. Average or Mean is nice, but also helps to have the Std. Dev. or Variance

Yup nothing to worry about, things will come out progressively and with Rogue One due out this year I expect that will add a lot more to the lines too

Please note I'm not worried; I'm sure the books will eventually arrive. I just resurrected this thread because it seems EotE normally has more books out by now... I mean, we're nearly halfway through 2016.

Of course, for those of you like Absol who keep track of these things? Is this a normal spacing of (specifically EotE) books?

I don't care what book is next I just hope it's got the Maka Eekai in it, which thematically would work best with a Mystic book I guess.
