I'd rather see something like what the Defender does. Free focus on straight maneuvers or something.
Rebel Veterans
I think we will see updates on E-wing and Y-wing.
- They could need a fix (Y-wing especially making more competitive as ordnance carrier)
- There are too few pilots in both ship types
- It would technically be the rebel counterpart for the Imperial Veterans Defender (E-wing) and Bomber (Y-wing).
- Because the letters E and Y symbolize "End of Year", which is a clever hint of the release date of the rebel veterans
Well, in some ways the T-70 is what the T-65 should have been imho.
The way the game has developed, not necessarily designed, but the way it has developed is that pretty much everything either needs a post-dial movement option or a turret.
I hate that.
Turning the X Wing into another arc-dodging flip-flopping boosting ship would be a tragedy, IMO. FFG has an opportunity to improve it, and build a ship that is good WITHOUT needing boost+barrel roll every turn. It would be a real shame to just see them slap boost/barrel roll on it and call it a day.
The thing is, the game didn't "develop" that way.
It's literally what works best in the system the way it is designed. The original ships simply didn't take it into account, and that's ones like the X-Wing are comparatively crippled and others have needed massive fixes.
What else can they do to "build" an X-Wing that doesn't have something to do with making it competitively maneuverable with the other ships in the game? Sounds like a pie in the sky wishlist item.
Title: X-Wings F#%£ Yeah!!!
Your action bar gains boost, barrel roll, and slam. You may perform these actions for free when performing any other action. When you slam, you may still attack this round.
Points: -5

Not only that, but it literally works best for knife-fights which X-Wing is using as theme. The ability to outmaneuver an enemy fighter simply is essential an can only be trumped by firepower which can punish a single mistake hard in combination with at least getting a shot sometimes … well or superior formations covering each others weaknesses. Damnit. now I really want to fly flight of X-Wings and see how well they do in formations against Palp Aces.
I would assume not so good because the formation breaks to fast when ships get destroyed. And I would assume giving them range 4 as max range could solve their problems as well.
Edited by SEApocalypseEPT X-Wing Only, may not have tech slot: All Groups, Form Up. X-Wings within range 1-2 of you may choose to not set a manoeuvre dial. Instead, they move when you do, executing the same manouevre.

Too expensive...
Choose an enemy ship. Remove it from the board, then take a free boost action: 0 pts.
And I just declared chardaan refit X-Wing and A-Wing only, working for torps and missiles. How else would I supposed to be build a nice little flight of X-Wings for a 100 point game? ;-)
Speaking of the veterans...

If you are defending against an attacker that is inside your firing arc, add one die to your defense roll.
Because "They came from behind" wasn´t just an excuse
I´m not sure if it would be any fun to play though. It´s just more survivable jouster.

I'm not sure if many will be desperate for an extra green die on an agility 1 ship, "in today's meta" and all...Speaking of the veterans...

Right. I forgot that Y-Wing has just 1 agility. Hmmm. Maybe an evade token instead?

When defending against an attacker that is inside your firing arc, instead of rolling for defense, you may perform an attack with torpedoes or deploy a bomb.

Hey, I could see a Chardaan Refit style upgrade that works for torpedoes on X-Wings and Y-Wings.
It could remove the torpedo slots in exchange for either a point-cost reduction or an effect to help them keep up with dog fighting.
Y-Wings are competitive thanks to TLT, but they definitely need a few more pilots to give them diversity. Putting an upgrade that works for both Y-Wings and X-Wings in Rebel Veterans would allow the expansion to focus on Y-Wings and skip adding a FOURTH X-wing expansion. The second ship could be the E-Wing, of course. The thing is just so ugly, though...
The problem with giving an X-wing a cost reduction trade for a torpedo slot is the same problem you have with A-wings. It basically taxes any ordinance they take. Proton rockets for A-wings are essentially five points. There's no sense in paying for a more expensive ordinance when your already paying that much, so you lose build diversity.
I frequently see A-wings with prockets.
The only time I've seen X-wings with torpedoes was when a new guy was running a list that he built using only a new core set and a T-70 expansion.
Obviously, a title reducing torpedo cost would imcrease build diversity, but Chardaan wouldn't decrease it at all.
As a matter of fact, after thinking some more about your post, something like that crossed my mind too. "After a ship in your arc declares you as a target, you may immediately perform a free evade action," or similar. My take is that it shouldn't work while stressed but YMMV.

If that's the case, I promise I'd outfit that Y-Wing so that I could take Juke. I'd call it Pop's Revenge.
Just because of the insanity of it all. A juking Y-Wing. lulz.

I was also thinking about "When defending against an attacker that is inside your firing arc, instead of rolling for defense, you may perform a primary weapon attack". And that calls for BTL-A4. Also sounds like fun.
So what new Y pilots would you like to see and what abilities would they have?
Davish Krail, Tyree and Hutch.
I want a torpedo Y wing that is not pilot specific.
I want Ys that work well with new generic astromechs.
I want ept ywings (unique is fine)
Named pilots that don't want stress.
Maybe: when defending if you are not stressed roll an extra green defense die.
Or: when you become stressed roll an attack die and suffer the result. Plus some awesome ability.
Davish Krail, Tyree and Hutch.
And as for the Chaardan Refit idea on Xwings and Ywings, nice wishing for that, but honestly that doesnt make much sense in any of the backstory/fluff of either fighter...especially not the Ywing which is a BOMBER.The Awing was specifically mentioned of having two vtypes the Mark 1 which didnt have any Missile launchers and the Mark 2 that did. The Chaardan reference was since Tycho mentioned his Awing was a mark one and was built on Chaardan which had all of the flight control panels made of wood from trees from that same planet.
The only type of Xwing that didnt have any torpedoes was the T-65BR (Recon) which had a bunch more sensors in the nose. So maybe making a Recon Xwing T-65BR title where it removes the torpedo and gives it a Systems slot could work. But then again the lasers would fry the sensors when fired, so they were typically disabled too.
No I think the best thing we coud get is a T-65B title that lets the Xwing do a Talon Roll on Hard 3 turns, or some sort of "if you target lock, then you may barrel roll for free" or an evade or something silly, and not ovrpowering.

Instead of a turret and torpedo slots, it has 3 bomb slots.
