Epic sized games..how big / small?

By Garik NVar, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hopefully this question is not too "noobish" but I recently got into the game (about a month ago) and I obtained the Imperial Assault Carrier for my birthday. Now.. I find that the Imperial Assault Carrier (IAC) is listed as an Epic vehicle and that you cannot play them in a 100 pt standard game. This raised the question of what constitutes an "Epic" game? I looked through the rules but did not find any numbers for this.

Can somebody help me out?

The recommended point total in Epic game is 300.

Edit: I found it in the rules reference, in the "Formats of Play" section.

Official is, as noted, 300 points. But if you're playing casual, do whatever you and your opponent agree to.

You know... like.. have fun or something. :)

Epic is 300, with no more than 5 Epic points, and no more than 12 of a single species of ship (e.g. 12 TIE Fighters and 1 TIE/Fo is still legal).

Team Epic is 200, with no more than 3 Epic Points, and no more than 8 of a single species of ship, but you get a partner who ALSO has a fleet of the same restrictions. You cannot have more than one instance of a unique on your entire side, though. (If your partner's running Luke Skywalker, the X-Wing, you can't use him in the X or as Crew, for instance).

Also, in order to play the cruiser properly, you will need to read through this:

It can be fairly tricky to integrate a Huge ship into a game without knowing all the associated rules for them.
