CRB binder fail

By rgrove0172, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Anybody else experience the binders coming apart with very little abuse on the core rule books? Was this a problem of a particular printing run or something?

Yeah, I've destroyed two.

Don't lay your books flat if it can be helped. That being said, I'm not always one to follow that advice, but I've had zero problems in the two years I've owned my core. I own a second-print copy.

Back in the day this used to be a common occurrence with WHFRP 1st and similarly thick cores. I became pretty good at repairing them with wood glue. Not too much, though. You don't want it bleeding through onto the pages.

Nope. If it's a defect, like you haven't had it long/haven't used it much, fire off an email to customer service with some pics maybe. What's the worse that happens?

Mine's going on 2 years and is fine. i seem to recall there was a bad batch out there and customer service replaced them.

Mine is still going, after two years, but it is shaky at best. I use my EotE book exclusively just so I won't goon up my AoR and FaD CRBs (unless I know I will need something specifically from those books on game night). Still, my AoR CRB isn't all that great in this regard IMO and I take really good care of my books.

Mine's seen years of use, no issue. But then, I don't use them much at the table.

Mine falls apart with little use. Unless you treat it like some frail piece of the Dead Sea Scrolls, I'm afraid it just isn't built well.

I don't guess Ive ever opened mine while playing but it sure takes some flipping during prep. It looks pretty bad. Im going to try a little glue but may be forced to clip, page protect sheet and binder. Yuck.

**** thing will be like 3 inches thick!

My books haven't failed me, my Edge core rulebook is perhaps the most worn out of all the books but even then it's just some fraying of the edges here and there. These days the books only come off my shelf if I am at home and if they are one of the smaller books and if I am at my desk. Otherwise I use the PDFs I have of them that I got awhile back, that certainly helps keep all my books fresh and means I don't have to cart all the books to the table manually.

I use mine a lot, got each core for Christmas the last 3. Still together, although the Edge book definitely looks used. I wonder if it's the way we each use our books that makes a difference. Mine live in a box for easy transport. Usually read them open on a table and not often in my hands.

Not had any trouble with my Star Wars books, not had them long. The Anima:Beyond fantasy books however are known for it!!.

It's a conspiracy... shoddy production so we buy at least 2 of each book :)

Our GMs and my CRB book are still going strong after much reading and abuse, both at and away from the gaming table

Then you can throw it down on the table for attention

For me, Edge and Force are both in good condition and I have had Edge a couple years. Age, on the other hand, was replaced by the retailer after a couple weeks and having the back come loose from the binding. Now, that replacement is doing the same thing and all I have done up to this point is open it to read a few things. I think the print run for Age is just not as sturdy as the other two rule books. At least all I need from it is a reference once in a while while I use the mechanics from the other two books.

Similar experience here. My Edge book has handled the most heavy use and is still going strong. FaD crackles a bit but seems to hold up fine. Age will probably fall apart on me soonest so I avoid opening it unless I need specific info.

One of my splatbooks, Nal Hutta maybe, came with pretty weak binding too. As a smaller book, it's not falling apart as quickly.
