Can i equipe the upgrade card tie/x1 on a tie advanced prototype?
From the FAQ
TIE /x1
Darth Vader can be equipped with the TIE/x1 Upgrade card.
TIE Adv. Prototype ships cannot be equipped with the TIE/x1 Upgrade card.
Yes, but it would be illegal.
right so only Scum could do it
tx
What about the other way around? Tie/v1 on Tie Advanced?
The TIE Advance definitely doesn't have "Prototype" in its ship type, so that's a firm no.
if that were possible i think the Inquis would be even more popular. Lose his evade but his sniping ability would be even more nasty lol
In theories, according to the base rule it should be possible, but this would be WAY to powerful, like some said... wow The Inquisitor with 3 attack always at range 1 with an auto crit !!!!
They juste decided that it was not possible without any rule explanation.

The explanation would really be that as far as I know there's no title that can be used on multiple different ships. The only situation I can really think of that's similar is the notion of defining what a Gonzati can and can't carry, and it's pretty consistent in regards to refusing cross-contamination between similarly named TIE ships as well.

Except that they did not rule that Title Upgrade are an exception, they just decided that it did not work...

The fact that YOU find an explanation does not make it a rule, Right now, there is absolutly 0 rules in the game that state that a Title Upgrade Card is for only one Type of Ship. They, Fantasy Flight Game, did not make in a rule, they just decided that it could not be used, and did not gave any explaination why.

there is a rule the TIE/v1 card says "TIE ADV. Prototype Only" and the TIE/x1 card says "TIE Advance Only" they are two different ships and just becasue their name are similar dose not mean that they are the same ship. When it says "TIE ADV. Prototype Only" it means you can put this title on the TIE Advance Prototype and only the TIE Advance Prototype and it cannot be use on the TIE Advance becasue it is a different ship and vice versa with the TIE/x1. Trying to put the TIE/V1 title on a TIE Advance is like trying to put The royal guard TIE title on a phantom. hope this cleard up any confusion
Edited by PatrikThe rules are on the card. "TIE Advanced only" and "Tie Adv. Prototype Only" respectively.
The Tie Adv. Prototype is not a TIE Advanced, therefore it cannot equip the TIE/x1 title (and vice versa for the TIE/v1 title). The FAQ was to clarify that these two ships were not meant to be treated as variants and their ship-specific upgrades are not valid for one another. That's an explanation as to why.
I will point you this wonderful rules that make Tie/Fo Fighter get the effect of Younster Tie Fighter and that let you equip the Twin Ion Engine on any Tie:
Ship-type only: This upgrade can only be equipped to a ship of the specified type. If the ship’s type includes the entirety of the restricted type, it can equip that upgrade. For example, a TIE/fo fighter can equip an Upgrade card restricted to “TIE Fighter only.”
Tie Advance Prototype contain the entirety of the Tie/X1 requirement Tie Advance.
I know that Fantasy Flight decided it would be way too powerful, but yet, don't confuse people, there is no rules that state that this would not work only an FAQ that you must be aware of.
And before you bring the fact that Adv does not equal Advance, I will point you to the wonderful Imperial Raider that must use abreviation everywhere and would not even work with itself if that was the case.

I honestly dont know why we are still going on about this. All that matters is that you cant use the tie advance title on the tie advance prototype and vice versa. FFG's intent when the made the Tie advance and tie advance prototype title is that they are title to be used on that ship. FFG use the FAQ to clear up this confusion because if you could use the titles on both then the game would be unbalanced. We can waste our time aruguing about it but in the end this is a game and a game's rules are changed altered and have some exceptions to make the game balanced, fun and fair. yes technicaly in the terms of youngsters abillity yes both the tie fighter and the tie fighter FO are considerd tie fighters even tho the are two diferent ships. Why, to add a little spice and flare to the game while keeping it fair, balanced and fun. For the same reason is the TIE advance and TIE Advance Protoype not allowed to use the others title even tho "technicaly their both TIE advances" It is to keep the game fun balanced and fair.

We are not arguing that it is possible.
I argue because people say there is a rule that prevent Title going to two ship, and I say there is no such rule and they just made an exception for this case because this would be too powefull. Implying rule is confusing and would create even more confusion if FFG come and do a title that work on more then one ship.
There is nothing in the rule that prevent FFG doing a Title with X-Wing only, "Ace Pilot" that would boost the X-Wing and X-Wing T-70 and let you keep Intergrated Astromech. Something that they should clearly do to continue to help the poor X-Wing...
This is a matter of carefully reading the title card/rule and seeing if the text is in the ship name:
TIE Advanced only can be applied to a TIE Advanced or the TIE Advanced x1 (Vader's ship)
TIE Adv Prototype only can be applied to a TIE Adv Prototype (can't apply a TIE Advanced card as it doesn't have Advanced in the ship name, it uses an abbreviation, and can't be used by the TIE Advanced as that doesn't have Prototype in its name)
TIE Fighter only can be applied to a TIE Fighter or TIE/FO Fighter (e.g. Gozanti's docking clamps, "Youngsters" ability)
TIE only can be applied to any ship with TIE in its name
T-70 X-wing only can only be applied to a T-70 X-wing (not an X-wing)
And so on.
If it wasn't like this you could argue the TIE Defender could use the TIE Advanced title since it is also known as the TIE Advanced x7... just like the TIE Adv Prototype is also known, and commonly referred to, as the TIE Advanced Prototype.
Hope that helps!
right so only Scum could do it
tx
Sounds like a possible Scyk and Starviper fix to me though.
