I've never tried the missions, and I've only been playing since January. What do you recommend?
I have the mission instructions for:
Core
TFA Core
Millennium Falcon
Slave 1
Imperial Aces

Play through them all. There are no duff missions in that list.
If you don't include the campaign from Rebel Transport (the design of which being a stroke of genius that was sadly never repeated in a Huge Ship campaign) then Imperial Aces probably has the game's best mission. Who doesn't love a crazy OP death TIE?
PTL Glaive is going to make that mission insane.
Edited by Blue FiveI have the Most Wanted pack too, but I don't remember if there are missions in that one too or not.
No missions in Most Wanted, S&V's first mission was in the IG pack
The Aggressor comes with a FANTASTIC 3 player mission. It is a model that can be used every time you have three people looking to play X-wing together.
Eh, just struck me as three huge ship deathmatch.
I actually think the mission in the new Dengar expansion will be very interesting- you should check it out if/when you pick that pack up.
I think all the missions through wave 7 are also available on the X-wing miniatures wiki, you can take a look at those.
As for the missions you've got, I think I like 'Ambush' from the TFA core set. I'd play with the 100/115 point version.
If you're looking for missions in general, there are actually a large number of player-created missions out there, some of which are very good. The Aturi Cluster campaign system has a lot of cool missions and mission concepts, and FFG's mission control has a ton of missions, but it can be hard to find something you like. I've published quite a few missions on mission control that I think are pretty good.
You may want to check out a few of my missions-
Steel Trap - thematic 1v1 mission with some fun options
Honor among thieves - 3-player FFA with a set of rules that should keep players from ganging up for more than a round or two
Traitors in the ranks - Fun 1v1 mission with a 'traitor' mechanic
Thanks, I'll check them out!
There appears to be a) an increase in interest for thematic scenarios and objective based missions and b) a decrease in overall interest for the 6 obstacle death matches. (These observations are taken from recent posts/topics on these and other forums)
I'd support one of the following:
Turrets: Players have to take out turrets / reach objectives. Turrets can angle and fire on ships. Ships performing slower moves have increased chance of getting hit
Shuttle: Used for Escort or Kill the VIP style games
AT-ATs: Iconic and formidable. Slow moving turrets with a forward arc. Destroy them before they get into range of their targets. Their escorts will try to stop you though. Also, a bombing run style mission: Hit the AT-AT. The AT-AT can only be destroyed by munitions. Attacking player must choose more munitions on ships vs. stronger escort. Defending player has to consider target priority.
Beacons: hit a beacon to activate it. after 8 rounds, whoever has the most beacons wins. Yes, you can steal beacons. Can also be used for race style games.
Other considerations:
There's a great Trench run mission by Dagobah Dave floating about somewhere as well (online).
No, you do not want to try the missions. Final Destination, no items, 6 rocks only.
Cutting the Cord is easily one of the most asymmetrically unbalanced missions available. If the Reb (or whatever) player is ready for a nasty challenge, then by all means try it, but that super fighter will pretty much destroy your whole list by itself, be it an Interceptor, a Defender, a Starviper, etc...
As said before, the GR 75 Campaign is simply the best. Played it twice, one narrow Rebel win and one narrow Imp win. A well playtested Campaign, perhaps first mision is the weakest, but even si it is very good and enjoyable. Run, Rebels, run
All the Epic ships have great missions in them. I like them a lot.
Babaganoosh has written a lot of really good ones. I'd check out his...or the Top 10 as they are mostly his. I wrote a small campaign a while ago that was 4 part, called the Erasmus Campaign. It's mostly generics with a few heroes and I thought it was pretty cool.
