Nifty RT Doodad #1: Weapon Counter...

By luther2, in Rogue Trader

I made this some time ago dfor Dark Heresy, and I thought it might be useful for all of you running RT at the moment...

Basically, put it together, fill out the weapon info on the front and you have a tool to keep track of ammo expenditure and weapon stats. Print it out on card and use a brad or some other fastening device in the center, use the lower dial to track individual shots and the inner circle to track clips and you shouldn't have to wear holes in your character sheet or keep 100s of little counters around the place...

Good work! This will come in very handy.

I have a Heavy Weapon one that I was working on some time ago as well as a 'Las' weapon one, considering the high ammo rates, but the posted one should work for most weapons. Glad you find it useful. In preparation for our future RT campaign, I've also been thinking about other doodads like a small thing to keep track of vital stats, like wounds and fatigue, done up as a Medicae Scanner. We'll see if I get the time in the future...

Something that would be very useful to go with this would be a sheet with nothing but the top layer printed as many times as will fit.

This would mean that instead of making a new counter for every single weapon the PCs might have, it's only necessary to write a new top layer out and swap it with onto a counter. Otherwise, you'll end up with a rather large number of these things laying around the gaming table.

Aside from this, this is a great idea and one I intend to use in my own DH/RT campaigns.

Hey, that's a great idea. I had meant for there to be a 'lot of guns' on the table as a visual hint that folks are 'loaded for bear,' but in many ways, having an entire sheet of Weapon Info Dials, an entire sheet of Clip dials, an entire sheet of Small Weapon Dials and an entire sheet of Large Weapon Dials makes a lot more sense than the current layout, allowing a lot of flexibility without constantly reprinting. I'll get on that as soon as I get a free moment. Cheers... cool.gif

This is really cool thanks for posting it. If you maker thouse changes please post them also. I never even thought of anything like this but it is a really great idea.

Wow this is really usefull... Have you considered uploading this on Dark reign? I'm sure the players there would find it extremly helpfull.
Seriously great idea :)

I never joined Dark Reign. There was a reason I didn't at the time, something about the info I had to provide or something, but I'll look into it again when I finish up the final one. I might take the time to do it this weekend. Any other features folks would like to see when I do finish it?

Another idea I had regarding your Weapons Counter idea:-

For Lasguns, Belt-Fed Heavy Weapons and any other guns with an exceptionally high ammo capacity, turn the numbers on the wheel 90 degrees and have two wheels where the numbers are side by side. The inner wheel is the tens and the outer wheel is the units. A much better method than trying to make the numbers on the dial smaller and smaller to fit more on.

Yep. That's the way I was doing the larger guns. It laso makes big guns look... well, big. Great minds and all that... cool.gif
