I am just posting this because this is an awesome squad

It's definitely a squad. You're just trying to come up with a way to justify having bought 4 of the things... :P

Actually I have 6...but that is another matter.

The only decent squad that fields multiples of these I can think of is straight 7 of them. What you get for 14 points isn't too bad, and not enough people run triple U-Boat currently to make sub PS 3 a no-go zone yet.

But that's 7 ships with useless 2 attack primaries. Now that you can get Youngster with rage and 7 Academies, naw.

So no. I'm sorry but just no.

My issue with the M3-A is that even for a tractor beam, to feel useful it's a 20 point ship that can't protect itself well enough and 40 points is too much of an investment for two of the things.

I own six, love the M3. As said in another posts, it is a mediocre craft because...it must ve that way. A simple and cheap to operate ship. What kills it is the 2 pts title. Try some maths with a no cost title. The Scyk can equip a heavy gun OR a Torp, simply that. And then the M3 is a viable and good ship.

except it's somehow MORE expensive than TIE and it should be cheaper >_<

while it costa slmost like an A or /Fo

Yes, a PS 4 Pilot one point cheaper helps, and in practice with the no cost title the M3 is a gun platform. Mango M3, Ion M3 or Tractor Beam M3. Little, fragile Scyk...but as Ion gun carriers they are well invested points.

Fix and try to make atractive the beauties that are rarely seen on the tabletop

I run 4 of them lead by a mando merc in a firespray with some goodies (Predator,Dengar etc) on him. Not a bad 5 ship build.

A local guy is running 4 TSPs with Mangler and Attani Mindlink. I haven't played against it but I hear it's pretty brutal.

The funny thing is I remember having a discussion on here before they came out about how I thought they should be run naked instead of loading points on because they are only 3 hp. Some people were determined to stick up for the little guys and vouch for their usefulness. But I saw past the lies and only ordered 1 haha. Putting the title plus a cannon is just a bad idea or loading them up with upgrades in general is a bad idea imo.

I still like the paradigm of this ship. Design wise, I find its 3 HP interesting. The 1 shield can soak a critical which is nice, and one of the aces gives a rare defensive re-roll.

In the world of hyper competitive play, sure, 20+ points is too much to ask for 3 HP and a secondary weapon.

On a table in the world where we play for fun, a quirky wingmate can be just what the doctor ordered.

Should've been 13pts, with a 1pt 'heavy' title. Possibly a 0pt 'light' title that greened their hard 2s.

Before you scream at that one, consider it's still a full HP less than an A-wing or FO, and slower/less sloopy than either.

It also can't take both those titles simultaneously, so no PTL HLC psuedo-interceptors either. ;)

That would have been pretty neat.

Oh. And laetin needed an EPT, but saying that a mid-PS unique pilot needed an EPT is... Not a revelation at this point, eh? ;)

How are you running them?

From the shadows I thought they were going to be A-Wings.

The shadows look like millennium falcons.

Yes, I am running them. Serrisu w/TB, Mindlink hull or Stealth. 3x TPV w/Mangler and Mindlink.

4 ships, 7 actions per turn, frequently with both focus and evade tokens. 3-dice cannon just as effective at range 3 to add to the AGI. Very hard to hit and with reasonable damage output. With low AGI ships, Serrisu is using the TB to reposition ships defensively nearly every turn and it works very well near rocks and debris. This is a VERY good counter to small-based bombers (K-wings and alike), B-wings, and Y-wings. Bro-bots are more of a problem. 1-2 large based ships are OK, but I have not run it against Jumpmaster 15K yet. The death knell is bumping in formation and losing actions. I am going to keep working with them this month, and it is one of three lists that I may put down at regionals.

That seems somewhat playable actually.

The shield soaking a crit was also a benefit others pointed out as well but I respectfully disagree haha and I'll tell you why. You cancel hits before crits so in my experience the shield gets knocked out by a normal hit and the crit still goes through. Sure once in awhile the green dice pull through and your left with a single crit that the shield cancels but the vast majority of times that lone shield gets eaten up the first time it's attacked. I do agree with you if you play them non competitively, for funsies you can load them up but competitively I wouldn't use one nor would I add any upgrades.

if you stare at the shadows long enough, you can see the ships they wished they were

Sounds like a lot of fun. PS advantage over most other generics, decent defence with focus/evade/barrel roll and Serissu plus reliable crit dealing. I do likeManglerScyks.

How are you finding stress handling with Mindlink?

Actually I played a B-Z list last weekend with Flechette cannons. The Scyk has an OK dial for greens so it is not terrible, but enemy ships applying stress are a target priority. Turning around all of the ships at once can be difficult. Basically the order of movement needs to be white moves (with actions/focus), ONE K-turn (the only red on the dial), and then green movements (clears the stress and gets actions). The ability to pass focus to stressed ships means that clearing the stress on all ships is not as urgent as it might otherwise be. It can affect things in weird ways. One of the games last tournament, Serrisu got the crit which made all turn moves red, and she effectively was out of the fight for a long period of time trying to bank her around.

I love the model, but the ship - not so much.

I've been trying to justify the 3 I have for some time now.....

Oh, lonely Scyk why does nobody love thee

your shields and hulls only equal three

if you look a little deeper we can see

there is no boost Oh my Oh me

a cannon upgrade cost two when it should be free

Until then, no Scyks on the table there will be
