Mmmmmmmm.....jousty goodness!

Yeah, definitely a problem but I love using the x-wing so much lol

Oh no...not a problem.I think it's great.

I am going to try your list my next game day

I've run 4 T70 before with success.

How? What were you guys flying against? Competitive? Casual? In between? I am very interested in building/flying an all X-wing list effectively but have struggled. I know that L-W-B, Biggs Walks the Dogs, etc. have had some success in Waves past but in today's meta? Any tips, tricks, insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

In between. I play with a close group of friends but we try to get in 3 to 5 games a week and I have done pretty well outside of our Meta. I like to think that I am a rookie who could be in the middle of the pack at a local tournament. Between my friend and I we see a lot of Soontir Builds, Tie Swarms, Fat Decimators, Fat Han, Rebel Spam, and three aces builds.

Trick to all X-wing builds, IMHO, is to fly them for fun. XXXX has a lot of limitations but with IA and a feel for the game it can be competitive.

I like to do baby maneuvers. Crawl. Remember, your firing arc covers more area at range three than it does at range one. So keeping some distance will keep your target ahead of you most of the time. You may not get the range 1 bonus die much but with 3 attack you really don't have to. I like to think the secret with X-wings are successful pot shots at range three.

The biggest problem with X-wings is that it is a "low" health jouster (low compared to a b-wing that is). With how maneuverable ships have become, jousting is becoming harder and harder to properly do. You have to be able to predict where your opponent will be at the end of the movement phase which is a huge challenge. As far as x-wings are concerned, you are going to be roughed up a bit before you figure them out. It's all about seeing the board for what it will be, not what it is.

Synergy is what makes X-wings great. Named pilots who help each other out is so important. This is my actual X-wing list I like to fly:

https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v4!s!0:56,-1,5:-1:20:;82:27,-1,3:-1:20:;84:1,163:-1:20:&sn=Rogue%20Squadron

Wes comes in and obliterates a target's defenses with his ability (removing tokens). Wedge follows suit with his attack. Then Hobbie gets the clean up kill. If Wes and Wedge fail to damage their target then I will use the proton torps on Hobbie. I like to combine fire and focus on winning one ship at a time. Hobbie is often ignored because Wes and Wedge are just mean but with my astromechs I can usually get away with a round or maybe two where I regenerate health while Hobbie pesters the opponent.

All in all, I don't recommend pure x-wing builds for competition. They hit hard when they are in formation but formation often falls apart when you are trying to hit an arc-dodger but you know what? I have a ton of fun flying them. I feel like I'm that kid playing Rogue Squadron. It is no coincidence that I pick three rogues to fly in my list. Sometimes I lose and that's okay because I have fun using X-wings.
