Dengar or Tel

By Seraphimtoaster375, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Both technically. But I'm not sure where to put the Punishing One title. I figure Dengar makes better use out of it with his ability, but probably dies a lot sooner than Tel who gets to use it longer, and thus deal more damage over time with it. Whoever doesn't get it will be packing an extra munitions andProton torpedo. Here's the list minus the weapon upgrades.

JumpMaster 5000: · Dengar (33)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

K4 Security Droid (3)

Inertial Dampeners (1)

Unhinged Astromech (1)

JumpMaster 5000: · Tel Trevura (30)

Determination (1)

Hull Upgrade (3)

· "Gonk" (2)

Salvaged Astromech (2)

Dengar wants to point his arc at an enemy ship. Tel doesn't.

Dengar has higher PS, which means an easier time getting enemies in arc. Tel's PS is less than ideal and would require Deadeye to fire torps.

Dengar has, effectively, less health than Tel, which means less time on the table, which means less firepower lost ater torp salvo.

If you want both in a squad, I say let Tel have the title and build Dengar as a mean torpboat. But make sure Tel has some teeth and isn't just a luxury tank.

Dengar (33)

  • Push The Limit (3)
  • Proton Torpedoes (4)
  • Extra Munitions (2)
  • Guidance Chips (0)
  • K4 Security Droid (3)
  • Unihinged Astromech (1)

= 46 pts

Tel Trevura (30)

  • Lone Wolf (2)
  • Hull Upgrade (3)
  • "Gonk" (2)
  • Punishing One (12)
  • R5-P8 (3)

= 52 pts

2 pts left:

- Glitterstim for one of them

- Adv. Proton Torpedoes over Proton Torps on Dengar

- Predator and Recon Specialist over Lone Wolf and "Gonk" on Tel

- Initiative bid at your leisure

If Dengar's alive after emptying his rounds, use his PS to fly extremely aggressive and stay at R1 of any target at all times for the extra dice. Make the most out of PtL/K4 to maintain Dengar as an offensive presence.

Ideally, you want Tel to reach the 1v1. If he does, Lone Wolf, "Gonk" and R5 will carry you through the end by sheer annoyance.

Tel is not a good pilot, really. Even if you give him Hull upgrade, he's still a mediocre pilot skill ace that just has slightly more hull. Dengar on the other hand, is a super-ace, the only large ship that can barrel roll and boost naturally at PS9, making Push the Limit on him godly, he can dance circles around most ships.

i would say Dengar
