Bounty Hunter Brothers

By Braneric, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Pciked up the Punishing One yesterday, came up with this:

Dengar (33)

-Attanni Mindlink (1)

-K4 Security Droid (3)

-Punishing One (12)

-Unhinged Astromech (1)

Bossk (35)

-Attanni Mindlink (1)

-Mangler Cannon (4)

-Gonk (2)

-Outlaw Tech (2)

-Boba Fett (1)

-Feedback Array (2)

97 Pts

The idea is that whenever Bossk does a red manuever (which will be as often as possible given that he really wants to creep across the board) both ships get a focus and a stress, and since Dengar has 9 different green maneuvers available he'll be able to shed the stress that same turn, get a free target lock out of it, and still have an action available.

Gonk is there to give Bossk some regen ability to compensate for the fact that he really can't dodge :P

I might consider dropping Boba, Gonk or the Feedback Array to give Dengar an engine upgrade.

Drop Gonk off Bossk, it's not good on a ship that's going to be doing reds alot. It's not a bad build, but that EPT slot is really important for Dengar, he wants Push the Limit really badly. I mean what's 2 focus on Dengar if he's able to Boost+barrel roll into range 1 out of arc for 4 free dice with no shots back?

Focus + Target Lock + Barrel Roll or boost isn't enough action economy?

Edit: assuming I drop Gonk to put EU on Dengar, which I agree is a good choice.

I guess that's pretty good, the only problem comes when stress mechanics come in. Rebel stressbots, or anything with Tactician, is going to poop o this build hard. And I mean, there's counters to every build, but Attani builds are just SO hard countered by stress mechanics that it's kind of a garbage EPT automatically unless you can ignore stress. In a tourny setting at least, since there will most likely be at least a couple lists with stress mechanics.

Mindlinked stress is only ever 1 stress. Throw a K4 onto Bossk and they'll both be virtually immune to mind linked stress and you'll have even better action economy.

Edit: words is hard.

I have been running these two together and built them like this:

Dengar 33

PTL 3

Gonk 2

Unhinged Astromech 1

Title 12

Engine Upgrade 4

Bossk 35

VI 1

Boba Fett 1

K4 3

4-Lom 1

Engine Upgrade 4

So far I have won 7 out of 8 games with these two

If you swap out push the limit for experimental interface modification you can then give gonk a shield token and take it from him in the same turn. Ptl only allows you to take an action from your action bar whilst EI allows one from an upgrade card.

Experimental Interface is a modification which means I will lose the Engine Upgrade. I like the ability to boost and barrel roll Dengar. It makes him an arc dodger which really helps. If he is played right then Gonk won't be used too often.

Start slow with 1 straight for a couple of rounds to load up shields on Gonk and pick them off later when required

i believe it was ruled that you can't do that anymore.

I heard that too

Yeah FFG have sent out an email confirming that you can only use gonk for an action once. Any great plan nerfed but still good to take.

I suppose I could take out the feedback array and put another K4 on Bossk, but not only do I lose any potential initiative bid I had but I it takes away Bossks only defense from someone flanking him.

Also, why was using both Gonk actions on the same turn such a big deal anyway?
