Rebel 666

By Folkenhellfang, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am well aware of the travesty I am about to submit to the jury: A K and a Y without TLT. I ask that the jury disregard that when considering the following list:

Dutch Vander 31

Deadeye

R2-D6

Extra Munitions

Proton Torpedoes

Guidance Chips

Esege Tuketu 38

Extra Munitions

Homing Missiles

Recon Specialist

Guidance Chips

Garven Dreis 31

Plasma Torpedoes

Targeting Astromech

Guidance Chips

The idea here is to maximize targeting actions. Esege uses focus, Dutch targets and passes target lock to Esege. Garven target locks and spends a focus from Esege, and then assigns it to Dutch. Dutch hammers the target with a solid Proton shot, and Esege follows up with a super accurate Homing missile.

I bring this before the jury because I think the Garen build could use some help. Thank you for your consideration.

A solid u-boat list. But if you wanna run this you're really better off going triple U-boat. That build is insane.

I have a regeneration 666 list:

T-70 X-Wing: •"Red Ace" (38)

Autothrusters (2)

•R2-D2 (4)

Comm Relay (3)

HWK-290: •Kyle Katarn (32)

•Moldy Crow (3)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

•Jan Ors (2)

T-70 X-Wing: Red Squadron Veteran (30)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Veteran Instincts (1)

•R5-P9 (3)

Total: 100/100

Could swap RSV for Garvin and add Wired to Kyle.

The Red ace seems like a tough one to kill.

I really have Ordnance on the brain right now. Insane seems a bit extreme though. It's a shame that there are no torpedoes that don't require a spent target lock.

That's the main reason I can't bring myself to ever use torpedoes on an xwing. While they are borderline over priced, the use of a target lock to fire really limits what you can do with them. Bringing deadeye isn't worth it for one shot.

Good point.

I still like the theory here. So how can we build out Garven without ordnance?

The RSV with focus based regen works though...

I used a very similar list with Esege and Dutch trading TLs and focus; I had success with Biggs/R2-D2/IA as a blocker to keep the ordnance alive. Garven's ability is useful in this setting, but without an Extra Munitions slot on the x-wing, it seems inefficient for just one torpedo shot.

Does Dutch really need deadeye here though? It gives you the option to target higher PS ships that you wouldn't get to TL, but Crackshot might be more useful to push out just a little more damage with that torpedo. Or even try to get some TLs for free with R5-K6, saving a possible action next round so all can focus or letting Dutch k-turn and still being able to launch his torpedo.
