Wave 8 at Barnes & Noble?

By DarkSpade, in X-Wing

Anyone found wave 8 at Barnes & Noble yet? They got previous waves in my area pretty quickly, but 8 seems to be missing in action. Finally found the ships on their website thanks to the ISBN, but they're all marked as sold out with no option to check stores. If they just didn't have them yet, wouldn't it be pre-order?

I got a bunch of coupons and they all expire Sunday. D:

Haven't found them yet, I was scoping them out because local stores got really low stock levels. They might be in a similar position as Amazon, not getting them until after the hobby stores in the new plan to help out local stores.

Nope none of them in my area have them. Also they sometime will list some things as sold out if they are planning to get them but aren't positive they will get them. This happens with Gundam stuff from them all the time.

They once had a Gundam Converge set I was waiting on. Listed the same way. Only one of three stores in my area got the set. Once it was sold they removed the product from the web site and it never showed up again at any store.

I checked one in my area last night to see if I could pick up one more Jumpmaster. They had nothing from wave 8 stocked and I only went there because all of the FLGS in the area are out of Jumpmasters already.

None of my local stores have gotten wave 8 yet. None of the 3 barnes and nobles or 2 Lgs's. Its starting to get annoying

My FLGS got a reduced shipment. Owner said he was told that he could only get what he had pre-ordered months ago. He thinks we're back to bad old days of continuous supply problems and that the bountiful supply of TFA cores, T-70s and FOs is only because Disney made FFG get it's act together for the film release.

My LGS used the words "I was allocated" to say he didn't receive and/or order enough for everyone. I can only assume he ordered more.

Word going around is FFG slapped B&N down .

Saying that they will now have to wait at least an extra 2 weeks before they can put new wave product on the shelf. All of this is in back lash of breaking street date with the force awakens core sets.

Merely rumors... My B&N has always gotten XWING release on shelves 2-3 weeks late. Wave 8 is no exception.

Could be, that's just what I was told from the local distributor

And take stuff with a grain of salt. In my local experience, X-Wing is still in the process of catching on, and few owners/employees of the local stores are as regular on the site or forums as I am. I've had the following happen in just the last two weeks:

1) "oh, no one really knows when that stuff is releasing." (Said after official street date announced by FFG and product had been "shipping now" for a few days)

2) "we were allocated very few ships" (a different employee who handles orders had JUST told me that they got exactly what they ordered, they just didn't order enough)

3) "yeah, not sure when they will be out, but I saw some great stuff at GAMA!" (Different store, the order just wasn't made because of people being at GAMA - at this point I went out to my car, got my Ghost, and brought it into the store - FYI, this was this week, 4-5 days after release)

Game and hobby stores have a tendency to under-order or miss order deadlines and then blame the distributor. I don't know why, but it does shift blame to a largely faceless entity that players don't interact with on a regular basis.

I got everything from the wave with the hounds tooth within a week of release from the local B&N. I have found that I sometimes have to ask specifically for the new stuff. They keep the shelf really full normally and they don't seem to put the new stuff out until it's time to restock the shelf.

Luckily, the new game store in the same town appears to be carrying an insane amount of x-wing stuff so I'm not hurting for access. I just really wanted to take advantage of these coupons.

Except that when the major online retailers cut off pre-orders for certain ships, that definitely points to allocation. But, allocation isn't necessarily a sign that FFG is out. At this point, this is evidence that some of the shipment got held up somewhere in the supply chain. Give a few weeks.

Though, clearly, they still have a few issues with predicting with demand. The dial upgrades are sold out at FFG.

The B&N site now shows the Ghost and Jumpmaster in stock. No sign of the TAP.
