In an Escalation game the rules say for the first round "The maximum squad points for each player’s first squad is 60 points. A squad cannot exceed 60 points, though it may contain fewer than 60 points. Each player must field at least two ships."

So here is the question. If you are using the ghost with the shuttle an the shuttle is docked does that count as fielding two ships?

Other posts state that a docked ship is not i play till its undocked. So if that is the case then you would have to put another ship in play at setup since the shuttle would not count as a fielded ship right?

Fielding a ship means that you are including it into your squad. Don't confuse it with "placing into the play area". The shuttle counts as fielded ship, even if it is docked at the beginning of the game.

Thanks for clearing that up for me too! Had a casual tourney yesterday where this came up and I thought you could dock it but the TO decided against it ... oh well. Good for next time.

I'm going to TO an escalation this weekend and had the exact same question. Thank you. Fielding a ship sounds an awful lot like placing a ship in the play area, but I can see where it is just part of the list.

Yes.

So update the T O at the game said no. Since if its docked is not is play so you would only have ship(the ghost) fielded. It was put to me like this in football you can tons of players on the sideline but you must field 11 to play.
