Ghost with an Ion Cannon Question?

So just played my first games against the ghost. He had and Ion cannon, and was able to effectively ion 2 of my ships each turn and in one turn. He ioned my jump master twice.

Want to make sure he was playing it correctly. He had the phantom docked and thus was allowed to use the turret on the ghost (I was never in his front arc thank goodness), and then use it again at the end of the turn. This was nasty. He had no donut and was able to ion nearly anything almost at will.

Just making sure he played it right.

Well, hopefully he was using the Ion Cannon Turret and not the Ion Cannon. The Turret version only has a 1-2 range, unlike the Cannon which has a 1-3. He can definitely shoot with a turret twice as long as the Phantom is docked.

edit: Also, how was he hitting with every single shot? Did you have a lot of one agility ships or did it just work out that way?

No we was using the correct turret. Man that Ion really took it to me.

Ion is really good on the ghost for sure.

Yes, you can use the turret during your normal attack and use it again during the title turret attack during the end phase.

It's also doing only 1 damage point per shot. If he's using a Ghost + Ion Turret + Phantom to shoot twice per turn, he's doing 2 damage per turn with a 60-ish point ship. The constant ionization can be troubling, but You should be able to outdamage that with almost anything :) What were you flying?

Control can be worse than damage spikes. It can tie up your list, fly you off the board, hamper your options, destroy your synergy and gameplan. I feel th OP's pain, ion if used well by a canny opponent can be a frustrating experience!

Having said that, it's very healthy for the game...

For me double TLT shots sound more terrific

(add some range 1 torpedoes to secure rear range 1)

The Ghost can only do 1.5x TLT attacks. The second attack sequence has a built-in limiter so it only triggers once.

Ion Cannon is particular good on Chopper as Stress + Ion is harder to shift than ketchup from a white shirt. ;)

Ah yes you are right

Believe me one ship shooting an Ion cannon twice is annoying. He can ion two small ships and k-turn behind them, with 5 dice next turn. Or one large ship in the same turn. It's nastly. He had chopper and Zeb, so even if I bumped him he could ion me, and mess up my day.

My new hated #1 enemy is a Ghost with Ion cannon for sure! Unless your flying all AG 3 ships, it's nasty

Well I'm empire so I don't worry too much against ion cannons, certainly a x7 laughs off control as do ships with AT.

Mate tried three scum ships two y-wing's and a HWK all with ion it just wasn't a threat at all a mild annoyance at best.

True, but those small ships can only do a little bit a damage if you do ion them. The ghost can get behind and roll 5 dice or 6 with Experimental interface and Expose. Plus it doesn't have to get behind if it has a shuttle just ion and fly past then shoot out the back.

Very nasty indeed. Balanced but nasty if your not ready for it and ships with low agility

Can't use expose, but otherwise, yes, ghost with ion can be nasty. It is (in my opinion) a little more flexible than autocorrect or dorsal turret (my personal setup for maximum damage). I've thought about an ion turret, but I have problems fitting it in a list, which is really the story of my life regarding upgrades on the ghost.

Oh Yeah. I forgot that because he kept landoing with Ei, and using Kyle when he cleared. He was landing 5 hits regularly.
