With Store Championships a couple days away... I need help with a Imp list.

By jmiahddixon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I am looking to make an Imp list for the store championship Saturday, but I cannot decide what to fly.

The first list that came to mind was.

4- Tie ac Pilots

1- BackStabber

1- Inquisitor

- Title
- Auto Thrusters

- Predator

- Cluster missiles

99 points

Then I thought maybe an interceptor squad would be good.

2- ASP interceptors

1 Omega Leader

- Predator

1 Echo

- Expose

- Tactician

- Advanced Cloaking Device

100 points

But after those I kept coming up with different lists and cannot decided what is better than the others.

So from these two lists what would you think is better?

I am also open to changes to these lists.

Any and all help is appreciated.

THANKS!

The first list, Inquisitor + miniswarm has some potential, but I don't think Backstabber is your guy. Maybe try to get Howlrunner in there, or some Crackshot black squadrons? I also haven't heard how Predator is on the Inquisitor, but with the v1 title you will likely have a target lock so the re-rolls won't get used a lot. Maybe push the limit?

The second list, are those Alpha Squadron interceptors? I like them, but haven't seen them flown too often. Omega leader is great, but Juke is a more efficient EPT because they can't modify that focus result back to an eyeball. Maybe try to squeeze comm relay on him somehow as well?

That Echo looks pretty fun, I'd have no idea what to do if I lined up against him.

I think the second list is a little more together, but it really depends on how much practice you have with Echo. Even the people that have some good table time in on him fly him off the board sometimes.

Predator on a title'd TAP is not the way to go. VI is ok, PTL is probably better, and Juke can have some application, depending on the rest of your list.

I'd go with the first list, but the Inquisitor needs Push the Limit. Predator is really redundant on him if you use the title. You'll be target locking a lot anyway to get that evade. With PTL he can get 3 actions a turn as long as one of them is a TL. Otherwise, you can always boost & b/r for arc dodging shenanigans.

The Ties are okay... I'd actually try to fit as many Black Squadron Pilots w/ crackshot (if you have it). You should be able to fit 4. The problem with normal academies now, is the 2 dice attack just doesn't cut it. They are still great blockers, but they have a hard time doing anything else.

The 2nd list is a bit of a mess if I'm honest. Juke and Comms Relay are basically stabled to Omega Leader. Without them he's really just an expensive Tie/FO.

Alpha Squadron pilots suffer from what all non-ept Interceptors suffer from, and that's action economy. The Interceptor needs actions to survive. Without them its just an expensive Tie Fighter and is easily swatted away before it can do much of anything.

Echo is just asking to die with Expose. Its a bad EPT on most ships and its down right awful for Phantoms. You have 4 attack dice naturally anyway. Don't get greedy trying to add more. If anything you can run Outmaneuver, but you better be good at guessing your opponents moves. Because anything PS 7 or higher will be able to shoot you without you being able to cloak. Intel agent can help, but it only gets you so far.

There's a weird PS3 in there along with a weird 1pt bid. That's because against U-Boats, you want to take initiative if you can and move your PS3 first so that your swarm doesn't get the stuffing blocked out of it. That same 1pt bid is also good for Inquisitor vs Jax, OL and other Inquisitors. Crackswarms is pretty solid, although having the PS3 guy lowers your chance of killing a U-Boats before it activates, but I think the increased bump protection is probably worth it.
