"Outside Resources"

By Hawkstrike, in X-Wing

Any word on if the "no outside resources" rule bans maneuver reference cards?

I mean, you get a card in each expansion ... and asking your opponent to see his dial is a little annoying.

What's this no outside resources business?

Sounds like Organized Play copy and pasting between FAQs. Again.

I mean, they put a Netrunner rule about sleeving alt art promos into X-Wing once, a rule which has utterly zero relevance or reason in this game. Leaves you wondering about how these FAQ updates get made. It'd definitely imply whoever writes them doesn't know the rules of the game they're updating the FAQ for.

Way to answer his question.

OP, I think the rulinh is more for tools that you can have on smartphones, or a browser, that could give you an unfair advantage.

Since the maneuvers are printed like you said, and it says in each expansion to use that reference, then it's FFG published data and just it being reprinted and organized on some reference card should not be an issue.

On this topic, I see a lot of people positing that developer emails (i.e., rules clarifications) are "Outside Resources." I think this is absurd. In no way does it give you an unfair advantage to follow the rules.

"My mama said I could do this, you callin' her a liar?"

I could see this becoming a problem, because outside resources could be anyone, not just credible resources (even which are those could be up for debate)...

Which is why you bring said "Outside Resource" to the TO before the tournament starts and ask them if that is the way they will rule for the duration of the event.
