Possible Dinamic Duo Post Veterans?

By 4fox100, in X-Wing

Not sure if anyone had posted abot this yet. But i was thinking that Colonel Vessery and Omega Leader might become a wonderful duo. Seeing as El Presidente loves his Target Locks, him and The Colonel could tag team an ace with relative ease (providing you give Vess VI). with both of them kitted out you are left with 36-37 points. That is plenty of filler room for alot of difderent things (eg palpmobile, Inquisitor 3 Academy TIEs etc).

So what are your thoughts. Is this a match made in heaven or too gimmicky to work well?

Those two are a good pair right now. Post-vets, they will be fearsome.

Vessery loves any Imperial ship that takes target locks, and thus pairs well with Omega Leader, both models of TIE advanced and the two TIE bomber variants. TIE/fos are also okay but they'll be taking out locks to paint targets for Vessery rather than to use themselves, hurting their action economy a little.

Good ship+Good ship+synergy is hardly a gimmick. They should be solid together especially since El Presidente is cheap enough that you can still fit a third ship (Fel+Vessery+Vader is quite possible). I'd make sure that last ship had a target lock, though, in case you want Omega Leader to flank while the Colonel pursues another target.

To me, The Inquisitor is the obvious third ship. All three are at PS8 so you can choose to fire in the order that is most advantageous to you. Vessery equiped with a Tractor Beam and TIE/D title absolutely wrecks stuff when followed up with OL and Inqy. I've played this list a couple of times and have had success with it!

There's enough space to fill out the list with some goodies. I put a shield upgrade on OL and TIE Mk. II on Vessery, but I think I would change it to Stealth Device on OL, remove the TIE Mk. II and just put a Proton Rocket on Inqy.

It's a list that argues for Adaptability on Vader. Against lower PS lists, you take -1 so Vader is 8, and can fire at a target after Vessery straps shields. If you need a 10, though, you can get it.

I've rolled 2 blanks when attacking with Vader and longed for autothrusters too many times to count, so the Inquisitor is more appealing to me with more consistent offence and defence. But it does combo nice, sure.

My only question is why do you have to wait until after veterans? FO can't carry LRS as they don't have both the missile and torpedo slot.

If you want TL passed then Col Jendon w/title can take a TL and pass to Omega Leader. The only question is will you have enough points left to kit Vesery. Maybe that's what you need veterans for.

Posted this before it should be pretty strong but not had a chance to play it yet.

Really there's no need to ever take fo's they sacrifice too much survivability by using the TL where a tap wants to TL every turn sacrificing nothing while having superior defence vs turrets.

What about paring Vessery with Commander Alozen? I know he only triggers at range 1, but he dosn't have to be in arc to trigger his TL. Have Vessery trail with a focus (equipped with ion IMO) and then get a fully modified primary.

2 pt initave bid. Everyone will be taking TL, but only Vessery will be wanting to spend his. Alozen will take point and try to get range 1 of his target and can evade/BR/focus as needed. Vessery can focus, plink with ion, and then get a fully modified primary with a good chance of defender having spent defense tokens. Vader can either help or hunt down other aces.

I cannot agree with you on FOs. My last battle OL, went against wounded Kenkirk and full health Rexler. Took Decimator down and played cat and mouse with Defender for 5+ turns and can tell the story. I estimate around 20 red dice was thrown at him.Once OL gets that TL and Focus (Evade is usually there) he is a hard nut to crack.

I really loved my Vessery, Omega Leader, and 2 Crack Omega squad.

Yorr can 0Stop baffle the stress take two TL's set up his arc, and set up Vess with one of two targets to keep your opponent guessing for who he'll be going for. while also allowing vess to stay in the fights with a 1/2hard
