Edited by Silver leaderIf the loudest critics think they can do better apply for a job at FFG.
Easier said than done. From what I heard about salaries at FFG, most guys that actually can do a better job (are actually smart, trained and experienced enough) are way out of their reach financially.
What? Dracula: Dead and Loving It was a great movie. I don't get the criticism against it. You, and the reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, just lack taste.
11% for a film with Leslie Nielsen? Rotten tomatoes can suck my shiny metal aft!

Well, FFG's not GW and it's prices won't support salaries through the roof
Still doing a great job. So their employees do love their job, and that's something

They do a good job with the game itself (although if the rumors are true than nobody spotted quad TLT and then triple Scout next wave, they kinda need to step up), other support departments are less than stellar. Like the utter inability to write a mistake-free preview article.
No! Keep writing clarifications to use for casual games!
But get the rules team together and make it so that you get things FAQed way faster! And stand by your rulings! None of this TO discretion crap!
I'll white knight this issue all the way. OP was churlish and unhelpful.
I feel like this is partially my fault, since I just podcasted about the discrepancy between using initiative to determine the timing of "after defending" effects, and Valen Rudor's FAQ entry. So we have a gray area for the moment; it happens. For the interim, we just apply what we have. Rudor's ability triggers before Tactician. Other "after defending" abilities are determined by initiative. And FFG will get to it.
Would the complainers really rather we had NO response from the designer about how Dengar's ability interacts with Whisper's? Should we leave it up to players to argue it out in tables around the world, and tournament organizers to randomly side one way or the other from event to event? Don't you like knowing these issues at the beginning of a game when deciding to take or pass initiative? These emailed responses are stopgap measures, to hold the line until such time as the matter can be definitively settled in a future FAQ. Stopgap measures are not ideal, but necessary and certainly better than nothing.
Imagine being Frank Brooks, and seeing this post. He's working hard, making the effort to answer emailed questions on top of his other duties, and we've got this topic basically starting with MEH STFU. We all love this game. Turn that passion into something beneficial, not snippy scorn that could impair the morale of the people making and shaping this pursuit that we all care about.
Dear Frank Brooks you are a cool dude
thanks for reading

Don't see a problem with either of the lists. Hard counters and get hard-countered. Not a gamebreak like Boost-PWTs or AceFest, Phantom menace...
The game is nice, but it seems they have a blackboard with SIMPLICITY IS A VIRTUE banner
because at times it seems they overdid the simplicity thing ![]()

The problem is that both are two very strong lists that the design and playtesting people simply missed. That's worrying.
Anyone ever got an email ruling before? They have a little disclaimer at the bottom.
They're not official rulings, they're the designer explaining how it works now. Frank Brooks isn't making up how it works case by case, he's saying how it works in the current ruleset. They're explanations, not rulings. If it works weird, it works weird until the FAQ patches it.

Someone is issuing bacon? Yes please.

Oh. Never mind.
So a rule in a FAQ needs an update. I am not at all surprised given how huge wave 8 is and how complex the game is becoming. Honestly the only thing so far that has irritated me about rulings is SLAM, it just would have been so cool if it worked the way the article indicated.
But seriously, much ado about essentially nothing.
I'm lost. Links to these latest rulings, please?
So, like, yeah. Still lost.

I'd say, look at that jacked up Y-wing in your profile pic!
Anyway, these rulings were in private emails so the only way you will get links is if someone posts it. Sorry.

Exactly. Part of the problem is that these rulings are made in private, to a single person. The only way to see the ruling is for that person to post it on their own. The Nova squadron group is where most of them are being posted.

I got my bye, and the guy that ran the tournament didn't have to address a 3 page list of questions about rules that are confusing or contradictory.

You're so sure they were missed? I don't think so.
Thank God 4 TLTs came in and shifted the meta.
I've been playing since wave 1 and tournaments have never been this diverse. MAYBE a game should have things that are just inherently good. MAYBE instead of bitching about it, you go find ways to beat it like the designers and playtester found.

I did, with a shuttle and 4 ties. AFTER wave 8 was out. JM5Ks aren't that scary.

Academy, wampa, howlrunner, omega leader. Only upgrades were juke and comms on omega, and palp on the shuttle.
Omaha last weekend. JM5Ks and Ghosts everywhere. Final match was me Vs Soontir, inqusitor (yorr)palp shuttle

I wanna point out that according to an email ruling rom a lead developer byes from players that didn't actually win the store championship will not be honored. According to the new tournament structure the developers claim passing byes down to inferior players weakens the core integrity of the competitive pool.
