I got into this game back in Wave 3 with a burning love for Star Wars and excitement for a new game. I played with friends a lot with my small collection and loved every second. As time has gone on, the game has grown and grown more complicated and my time has become more limited. I'm at a point where I really can't make it out to gaming nights so I never really see my ships in play. I love the game still, I play on Vassal constantly and still try to stay competitive, but with each release I start to find myself drawn more to soley Scum with a sprinkling of rebels still keeping my interest.
I love having all the models, it's a weird ownership feeling I suppose, but I think I'm ready to part with the Imperial faction and focus more on my scummy side and other hobbies (Imperial assault to be exact.
What do you think other Xwingers? Is it a good idea to part with a chunk of this game?
Looking for Serious Advice - Should I sell my Imperials?
My hunch would be not to. If you sell, you may well discover when Wave 9 or 10 drops that you can do something exciting and new with your Imperials and you will regret getting rid of them. Scum and Rebels have dominated the Wave 8 release schedule but Imperial Veterans are on the horizon so things could be looking up.
If you do decide to sell, consider splitting your collection as some cards go for silly money.
Do you need the money? If there is no pressing need, I think you'll regret parting with the models. Anytime I've ever parted with items that are a part of a hobby I'm active in I've always later regretted it.
My feelings toward my little plastic spaceships resemble those of a dragon toward its hoard, so I am not capable of answering that question rationally.
That being said, I would be happy to pay shipping for you to give me all your Imperials... ![]()
You can always play non deathmatch games. Go ahead and play some scenarios and campaigns. You might need those Imperials then.

The forum does not talk about this play format often, but the scenarios are fantastic fun! Great for casual play.
There is no harm in having miniatures on a shelf (or in a box in the basement, whatever). If you're a gamer, you should keep your toys. You never know when you'll want them again.
I have a thousand dollars of Games Workshop miniatures which I've never built lying in a basement unopened. I don't even play GW games anymore.
But last year, I traded (traded!) all of my GW 40K tanks at current face value for X-Wing stuff. That's how I originally got into X-Wing - just a straight trade.
You aren't going to get near the money you hope you will, so it's probably not worth the trouble to sell them.
You can always sell them and get some "bonus" cash back.
But if you sell them and you want them back for any reason, you're out of luck unless you decide to buy again.
$1 Bob!
Sell them to me ... For cheap!
I know people that only collect one faction and that is fine if you want to do that.
I have a problem though, I compulsively need to have at least one of everything.
If I had, oh, say six or seven B-Wings then yeah, right now I would be ok with selling/trading a couple away because I don't play Rebels or Epic very often so I should never want more than four. Outside of having so many of one particular ship that I can't fit them into a 100 point list and I don't plan on playing with all of them in Epic I wouldn't get rid of any.
Even if you never fly them again personally, you may find a time when you wish you were able to field them for a younger or new player. Personally, I'm keeping everything because one day... one glorious day... I'll find a group that wants to play Epic regularly. I expect to need extra ships from all factions at that point... so I don't feel bad for collecting the oddball ships like all 5 Khiraxz Fighters (and maybe a 6th for the Predator, Glitterstim and Crackshot combo cards), more TIE Bombers, more TIE Interceptors, more than 8 TIE Fighters... and now TIE/fo Fighters. Yeah, I have trouble letting go, but I'm also wanting to play it in more than just the 100 point ecosystem, though, don't get me wrong, I love that style too!
I figure unless you need to sell them for some reason, like to pay for more ships or need the space or something. Then don't sell them. It's not like they're perishable or something and will go bad.
Being purely impartial..yes...sell them to me....
Meta is going to change. Happens to all games, I personally am chomping at the bit for Imp vets to be released. Going to release some TIE/D vengeance on these scum!
Keep them unless you need the money for a real-life emergency. I hated playing any rebels other than the falcon before the K-wing and TLT came out, and now I'm really excited about the Ghost and attack shuttle. Imperials will get some love in upcoming waves.
The same applies to the Scyk on the scum side; it's useless right now and you might as well get rid of it ... but I'm sure it will be worth playing after the devs fix the scyk with upgades/titles in a future wave.
I thought missiles and torpedoes were a waste of points (and I would have been happy to sell them) until guidance chips (or guidance chips + glitterstim) showed up. Now I can easily imagine competetive lists with multiple ships armed with missiles or torpedoes.

You will regret it! Don't do it unless:
1) You don't like X-Wing at all and don't think you ever will.
2) You really need the money.
Okay, if you don't like X-Wing at all then trade it for other gaming stuff. But NEVER, EVER let money put into the gaming pool be liquidated into the needs of real life.
But, Imperial Veterans is coming! Don't quit now!
Sell your Imperial Assault instead.
Nope.
Sell your Imperial Assault instead.

Just the models and pilot cards you aren't going to get much for. Unless you desperately need the money there's not much point getting rid of them, it's just closing future options to you.
Selling them will come with a few problems - you may want to sell the models and pilot cards and chits, but keep upgrade cards - in which case you'll need to find a compromise ground - where buyers would rather just get the whole expansion with all the cards they need.
Also - if you find friends or introduce people to the game, it's nice to have the other faction to build from, as well as to practice against yourself, or practice playing imperial lists you have trouble against - flying Fel Vader Palpatine is a good way to understand it's limitations, and where you can break it.
Finally - someday they may be worth something as a collectors item, but - since they're opened, who knows. You're more likely to sell to other veteran players if you need to keep the cards - for example i would like a 5th interceptor for 5x alpha's - but I don't really need the cards - that's less true of someone new to the game.
Take a look at how big your collection is - and ask are you selling to free up space you need, or to gain cash that you might need? If you have no need for the small amount of cash you're likely to get for used plastic toys - and don't have issues with space - there's probably little reason to sell.
