Prepare for Maneuvers - They revealed the next article!

I'm still wondering if one can easily swap dials and the Id.

I've crossed my fingers.

Also they say in stores now.

Certainly defeats the purpose a bit if you *can't*

I'm sure as hell not buying 170 of these things....

I'm having a real hard time getting interested in these. I suppose once my dials start to show some wear, but otherwise... meh?

I don't need 170, yet, but I'm getting up there.

Because there's no way in Hoth that I'm buying like 10+ packs each of Rebel and Imperial and 5+ Scum. Maybe one or two for Tournament builds, but I'm not terribly keen on ripping apart the dials and fatiguing the plastic nubs all the time.

Since it is $10 for three. If they are easily swappable then I won't mind if they wear out and protect the dial. The collector in me will most likely get enough for a 400 point Epic game anyway so I'll have plenty. That is............ if I can swap out the dials. If not I'm fine with what I have.

A few for my favourite ships might be in order...

Well, again, the only way these would "make sense" (*cough* because the amount of money we already spend on this game 'makes sense' *cough*) is if they are trivial to switch from one ship to another.

In that case, you can simply take apart all your dials, plastic nubs and all, and just toss most of them in a box (if you feel like keeping them at all). It's only the round 'bottom' part of the dial you would need to retain for these, and you can store those for all ships a lot easier than the dials (less than half the thickness of a completed dial, and flat!).

But that's entirely predicated, of course, on them being REALLY TRIVIAL to swap around.

I think they've missed one trick with them. If they'd molded a lip on the back facing to mate with the ID of the front facing, they'd be stackable. From there, it's a trivial thing to make them snap together entirely. Seems like an insignificant thing, but I think that'd be one of those little touches that'd make the difference. We're at a stage where the game is so big, little things like that for organisation and transport would make buying them much more appealing.

I agree, they're pretty, appear to be more functional in seeing the whole dial at once, and they seem to be based on the Armada command dials which I quite like. I like them, I'm just not sure I $like$ them that much. Yet. But probably. I've got everything else basically... Uhm, Intervention time?

Agreed. The least excited I've been for something. Im actually irrationally annoyed by their existence.

I'm still concerned about wearing out the hole in the dials with constantly swapping dials in and out. The holes need to be tight or the dial will spin wildly and not hold the maneuver you selected as you turn it over to reveal it (easier to brush against it and cheat your dial too).

I need to see some reviews after people have swapped the same dial on and off this thing 50-100 times.

I think they missed a big opportunity to add a window to insert also an ID number token.

I agreed with all of you about the new dials. I am having problem storing all the dials in my current storage case due to space issues. If I can shrink them down to just the movement discs that would solve the problem. I have a few questions/concerns about these dial holders which the ad doesn't seem to cover.

1. Disc settings slipping due to constant swapping in/out discs.

2. Issue of telling the discs apart from the corresponding ships. (Some of naming are not so clear as to which ship).

I agree they missed not having the Id on the dial. Oops...

I too will wait for the reviews.

these things and the fruit flavored bases are not the plastics I am looking for.

moving along......moving along.

after all these years, and the popularity of acrylic templates...how does FFG NOT have a set of acrylics of their own on the market.

range rulers as prizes.....fine...fine...thats all good. but sell sets of movemet templates . players would eat those up at 30-40 a set no problem.

Thanks, for posting this. I somehow missed that there are 3 in each package. This makes me much, much happier and likely to buy them. I was under the impression that there was 1/package and thought "holy crap, so expensive". I must have been oblivious to that fact when they were announced.

Even do for people who have 100+ ships that's a lot of dials.

Agreed, but I have a subset of dials I use regularly that I would instantly do, and a whole bunch that see very little play which I would wait on/never do.

1 T-70, 1-2 Y Wings, an E-wing, a YT-2400, an A-wing... etc. all make sense to 'upgrade' given how frequently I use those ships. I wouldn't do 5x or any one of them unless I had a list/reason to do so, despite owning multiples of all of those.

I was initially uninterested. Then the idea of seeing all the moves at once was tempting. But I play mostly with my sons and we almost never play the same lists back to back.

I'll wait for people to report back into how easy they are to swap in and out and if they affect longevity. For some reason, my B-wing dials were loose from the get-go, I wouldn't want that to be commonplace.

Swapping them out actually seems like it'd be more of a pain than my current system. The dials don't have the names of the ships attached. They only have the product ID. So I'd have to either store the dials with the actual ships they belong to, or try to remember which dial belongs to which ship based on the available maneuvers. That sounds like a pain, especially with ships that have very similar dials like the Khiraxz and Scyk where the only difference is the speed of one K-turn.

These are meh. Not for me at all. Neither are the coloured bases and pegs.
