Can a Phantom do a K-turn when undocking?

By hardbap, in X-Wing Rules Questions

You guys know it's the same as the Nashtah Pup rules, right? And I've seen that K-turn numerous times with no one questioning it. The rules some people decide to nit-pick...

I remember that one causing a couple of threads here when it was released. At the time the Hound's Tooth was released, there was nothing about red maneuvers that caused stress if they were performed outside of the normal activation for a ship. The language about the rear guides was seen by some as being a way to keep the Pup from deploying with a stressless K-Turn.

of course, if the Nashtah Pup couldn't K-Turn, it would not need the specific wording on rule 5, as it would be impossible otherwise for it to pick up a stress token without overlapping an obstacle.

At the time that the Pup released, it was impossible for it to pick up a stress even when K-Turning without overlapping an obstacle.

If I deploy the Phantom with a kturn I do get the stress right

Yes it is still a red maneuver, so you still get a stress token.

You do. The rules for getting stress from a maneuver were changed so that stress assignment happens during the steps for performing a maneuver.

Sorry if my comments regarding the Hound's Tooth and older rules caused confusion.

Well thank God for future-proofing. ;)

It happens so rarely around here... :D
