Just wondering peoples opinion on how literal I should take the restriction to rifles and heavy rifles for this attachment. I would love to attach it to a light repeating blaster.

You can do whatever you like that your GM will allow, but the rule is pretty clear.

If I were GM, the only way I'd allow it is with the understanding that despair or maybe even 3 or more threat on a dice result could mean a very painful catastrophic failure. By "could" I mean "most definitely will, and inflicts blast damage."

IMO, an LRB already has one built in, so you can’t really replace that with another of exactly the same thing.

But maybe that’s just me.
