Jorney in the Dark Original Campaign?

By lancedav, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Probably a newb question here, but I just received my Journey in the Dark core kit and it has the Heirs of Blood campaign in it (probably a good thing) - but is there anyway to download the original campaign? or was there an original campaign?

Thanks!

There is no legal way to download the Shadow Rune. Rumors are, it will be reimplemented in a standalone book

Please note that these "rumours," to my knowledge, consist of a single post by a single user (not affiliated with FFG in any official capacity) in a single thread on these forums.

In other words, one fan is on record as thinking it would be a cool idea to republish Shadow Rune as a separate book.

I agree that it would be cool if FFG provided a means for new buyers to access the old campaign (a significant portion of this game's fanbase seem to be completionists, after all.) And FFG is pretty good about taking up fans on their ideas, generally speaking. But let's be careful not to mislead newcomers into thinking this is something that might happen in a few months, when it's really just a vague idea that got mentioned once or twice, by players.

I still don't own the HoB book, and my game was bought in the last year. Since they are making the core game with HoB now, I guess I´ll have trouble to find a copy if I don't buy mine in a very near future :(

Or you'll have an easier time, as fewer people will be buying the book when that campaign comes with the core set.

Makes sense, unless FFG stops the production, and seems that will happen soon. No use in reprint a product that now comes with the game, right? ;)

Yes, because everyone who has bought the game with the Shadow Rune in the past will be more interested in buying the base game again than in buying a book..

While you are right that there was no official statement from FFG, this is not a fans wish which is based on thin air.

The statement about a campaign book release for "The Shadow Rune" was done by an official from "Heildelberger Spieleverlag", who is the german translator and distributor for Descent. Also, this statement was given as an answer to the question on how buyers of the reprint will be able to obtain "The Shadows Rune" campaign.

He also told the users, that the reprint will contain the "Heirs of Blood" campaign a month before it was available.

Thank you for citing the source. I am happy to stand corrected, knowing that there is at least some basis to this rumour.

I definetively believe that the SR campaign book will be released, here my points :

First because the campaign is far from being bad when it comes to story line.

Second because indeed the campaign needs to be somewhat balanced and we know that a lot of quest rules aren t that clear.

Third because if it woudn't be the case they would have already bring it out as a free download content, even more since new buyers keep asking after it.

Fourth because they know that some hardcore gamers, as myself, will be silly enough to buy it again if they add some kind of fluff to it.

Last because it brings an additional book to the newly started books collection without too much work.
