Best EPT for Mr. 4-LOM

By Requete, in X-Wing

I want to run 4-lom as an opportunist supporting a torp scout pair (or maybe scout and some other). I plan on using both the primary and t-beam depending on the situation.

Do folks prefer VI or PTL? I can see a strong case for both.

Juke or rage. Rage if you have advanced sensors.

VI depending on meta. Obviously useless v soontir and co, but great for OL, Inquisitor, and brobots

Probably the most useful upgrade for the g1-a in general, though, because it'll let you get some shots off before your squishy profile gets you killed

otherwise, I guess crackshot or predator. You're not getting much out of PTL except on turns when you're within range 1 of your enemy; incredibly situational. Much easier to use Zuckuss (crew) to generate your stress. It costs a mere point, so it hamstrings you less when you're not using it

I also like the idea of Predator paired with Advanced Sensors and an Outlaw Tech. You can do a pre-move Barrel Roll or Evade, then perform a red maneuver and get a Focus and a stress. Then hand the stress off to your victim, meanwhile having both Focus and re-roll for your attack. Sounds fun.

AS with Stay on Target perhaps?

So... When you say running him as an opportunist, you don't mean running him with Opportunist? I wouldn't do it if he's going to be the highest PS in the list, but it could work if you get someone in there to strip tokens.

Of VI or PTL, I'd go for the latter. Going from PS6 to PS8 isn't very valuable, but stacking evade on an offensive action is going to do a lot for your survivability.

Vorpal, I just meant to describe the role I envisioned for the ship: damage or spoiling or flanking as the need arises.

Oh, I figured. I just thought it was an interesting turn of phrase, since as it turns out there is some synergy between Opportunist and 4-LOM's ability.

I was thinking the same thing, lol. Not entirely practical but could allow for some hilarious Range 1 shenanigans. Five dice primary face-blast... oh, AND you get a Stress. Sorry, bro. Opportunist also allows you to take advantage of 4-LOM's naturally lower PS -- higher PS ships may have shot or defended against your other ships already and may not have tokens!

Advanced Sensors + Rage seems like a lot of fun, and Stay on Target could also be a blast to ensure you get into Range 1. I can't wait to fly this ship.

My Interceptor Bugswatter build:

Crackshot

FCS

Zuckuss

Glitterstim

Misthunter Title

Tractor Beam

Hasn't failed to shutdown stealth devices yet so far

I run him with Predator, leaving my action free to be Focus or BR as needed. Run him with Zuckuss crew and use a combo of his natural ability and Electronic Baffle to shed the stress from Zuck. Worst case scenario, if I can't shed all the stress before next turn, at least I've got some dice modification thanks to Predator.

Opportunist + Sensor Jammer on 4-LOM would probably be decent, especially with Palob around.

Starts to get expensive though.

4LOM with Rage, Adv Sensors, Tactician and Titlebeam. It's a stress control build You're only safe at range 3 or out of arc :)

Juke or rage. Rage if you have advanced sensors.

Predator.

Rage sounds fun but there is not enough green on that dial for me to like the combo.

The only thing i dont like is that there is no great way to get 4 attack dice. If only we had a crew that stressed for +1 red die. But outlaw tech is good for now.

And Intel Agent, haha.

"I'M OMNISCIENT WITH NO DRAWBACK. HERE IS A STRESS HAHAHAHAHAHA."

He's not ENTIRELY useless against high PS Aces. Soontir Fel hates that extra stress. So give him Push and Focus/Evade or Gonk/Evade each turn, and Fel will stay out of R1. Combined with those Evade actions and maybe some shield regen, it will help you last longer against those aces because they'll miss that R1 bonus die and THEN have to bug out and clear an extra stress token, giving you a round of peace.

The dial isn't quite as good as the B-Wing's for AdvSensors/IntelAgent shenanigans. With Farlander you can dial in a 2-K and keep it if needed or have access to the full suite of 2-speed moves. There is no red at speed 2 on the G1-A (meaning you MUST change your move if you want the stress), nor a K-turn. With the 3-K, you only have 3 other options for turning the dial.
