I want to love the TAP. I can see that is can be good but I can't decide what it needs to work best.

The Inquisitor:

Title seems a must but apart from that I'm really not sure. PtL + MKII or Autothrusters ?

Valen:

This is even worse for me, once again title seems like a must but from there I don't know what he needs.

The other 2:

These I think are solid missile carriers.

Inq is going to be either PTL, Juke or VI for me. PTL and Juke are broadly similar and depend on the rest of your list, VI is very metal-dependent. Note that Autothrusters and Mk2 occupy the same spot, so it's one or the other, and in all cases it's Autothrusters. I think there's also an argument for Daredevil on the Inquisitor, to help with the keeping in range 3 and still getting shots, but I've not tried it out yet - the theory being using the 3-straight to break engagement, then the hard-1 to get arc back which is more difficult with the bank-1 from a normal Boost action.

Valen I think needs attention paid to his supreme mobility. He will want to get into the dogfight, take a lock and an evade, then use his remaining actions to move around when he's shot at. You can make arguments for Squad Leader beign fun with him, to extend his ability to others, or I think there's also a strong argument for Daredevil with him too, to give him a third movement option to use.

There's also been a suggestion of Expose on him which is interesting, you use it after getting attacked, but before you shoot. Very PS dependent though.

I've not tried either though I hope to soon.

BotEs are solid Juke carriers or ordnance carriers, and four of them with Juke, title and Autothrusters could be a very solid build.

STPs I think struggle to find a place over f/os; as ordnance carriers they're iffy due to their PS and lack of EPT.

Is juke/title a thing on the ones with ept?

The dial on the TAP is amazing in tight spaces.

For The Inquisitor the "Build" seems to be PTL, title and Autothrusters. If you have the points, give him a Proton rocket for 5 dice of glory.

For Rudor I think the EPT is up to you, but title and Autothrusters/Stealth device is a must on him. You give him a focus or target lock as his action, for the free evade, then boost/barrel roll out of arc for non turreted ships. Or any combination that the situation warrants. Key is not letting Rudoe get hit.

I see the TAP as a rocket carrier, they are quick enough to get into range 1, are nimble enough to get around obstacles and arcs. Just need to be careful as they are more fragile than an exhaust port on Yavin.

Definitely, yes. It's a strong option, giving two strong offensive mods and a defensive mod with a single action. Better in multiples, because of the token stripping effect and the fact that it's not usually possible to change two eyes back into evades unless you're Poe.

Prockets aren't ideal for the PS2 TAPs. One of the great strengths of prockets is that they're a weapon of opportunity - you're taking focus most rounds anyway, this round someone's wandered into your R1 arc, here eat 5 dice. However, most rounds a TAP wants to Target Lock (to get the free Evade, natch) meaning that to fire your prockets you need to a) give up your most advantageous action and b) telegraph your intent.

If you're putting Prockets on them you probably don't bother with the title...

Would PTL be decent on Valen? I could see with his mid-PS that it could be handy. Give him a TL + Evade for his action and save the PTL. Then, after he's shot, he can maybe Boost and BR out of people's arc. I know everyone talks about Valen with TLT's, but what about other ships? Let's say he gets in a bad spot, he might be able to zip out of it if he survives the first shot.

Ive been thinking about Valen and what to do with him. Going to have to try him this weekend.

He is the complete opposite of Turr. He has a mid PS. So if a higher PS attacks him, why bother br and boosting outta arc? Maybe just boost into range 1 for a counter? You already have a TL from title, so pushing for a focus isnt worth the stress. If you get attacked by a lower PS ship, you have already attacked, so getting outta range/arc isnt necessary (unless you are being focused on). I think PTL will have good uses though. If Rudor has Prockets, and an enemy is firing from range 2, then they have to be aware that you can boost into range 1, and PTL for a focus, and counter with a face full of Prockets.

With Valen, I have been thinking of Outmaneuver. If a higher PS attacks, you can br or boost outta arc to help your upcoming attack. Against lower ships, you should have already br/boost out of their arc anyhow. Someone like Poe attacks you, you br outta arc. Now if you are in range 1, with your TL, you get 3 dice against Poe's 1. That is a nice 2/3dmg potential on Poe with a measly 2 att ship. 1 agi ships just take what you give them.

He should be fun to mess around with. Lots of options with his ability

I don't think so, since that requires that Rudor be the thing that they want to shoot at, which implies that either all of the higher value targets are dead or you didn't bring them in the first place.

It would seem I'm not the only one unsure of what to do. Seems to be a lot of ways to run them, too many choices

Played Inq with PTL, tracers and thrusters. Quite happy with it. Used him along with Redline and Black cracks.

I personally think VI is a waste on The Inquisitor. His dial allows him to move in ways that he doesn't need to move last. It can be an advantage to move before the 9+ and take away their only avenue for escape. PTL is great because it helps him to token up and stay alive.

Valen is a fantastic missile platform. Give him the title, PTL, and missile of choice. Someone shoots at him, he gets his action (or two) and then blasts them with his missile. PTL isn't needed though. I love Juke on a missile laden Valen. If there is a bigger threat on the board, chances are he won't be shot at. Juke will ensure he does max damage with his ordinance.

Valen wants Expose.

How fun is that against higher PS targets.

I think ptl is fine on Valen. If you're unlikely to get shot anyways you still get two actions and if you're getting shot you have the option to ptl

You want the TAP to target lock as much as humanly possible.

Get those XX-23s on it.

Inquisitor with push title and thrusters is maybe the best 31 points in the empire imo. He move ps8 but doesn't care about arc dodging most times, just floats range 3 and almost always has thrusters+focus+ target lock+focus, it really is crazy.
