Ship attack question

By jpersons73, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I have read the Steps for combat post and still a little confused as nothing seems to give me an answer. Once I fire on an opponents ship am I able to attack the Squads around my ship also?

I pick Assault Frigate to attack, resolve all the steps for that attack. Can I now attack the B-wing sitting on the same side with my Anti Squad dice if the B-wing is in range?

You have two Attacks.

In this case, you Decide to Anti-Ship your first attack... You pick the Hull Zone to attack with (the Right Broadside) and you fire away.

Now, it is time for your second attack.

You cannot nominate the Right Broadside to attack with, unless you have another rule (read: Gunnery Team) to allow you to do so... Even if its Anti-Squadron Attacks.

Anti-Squadron Attacks still need to nominate a Hull Zone to shoot from, and each hull zone can only fire for ONE attack.

So, in full... You pick a Hull Zone, and you pick wether its going to be Anti Ship (One Target) or Anti-Squadron (All Squadrons in that Arc).

But in order to make both attacks (of either type) out of one arc, you're going to need a Special Rule to let you do it... And that (at the moment) is either Gunnery Teams Upgrade, or the Advanced Gunnery Objective in play.

Thank you for clearing that up

Add on question, say my opponent has Ackbar and fires aft at a Squad, can he then activate Ackbar and fire from the port/str sides of the ship? Sorry for so many noob questions

No. You decide before you make any attacks wether or not you are going to Use Ackbar or not.

If you use Ackbar, you cannot use the Front or Rear.

If you fire from the Front or rear, its too late to use Ackbar...

Technically, if you fire from the Side and then decide to add Ackbar, that's too late, too!

The decision time for Ackbar is Before It Attacks .

Thank for all the answers today! Sure I will have more later on down the road

Don't worry, Drasnighta will be there to answer them.

I mean, he practically lives in the rules forum! :D
