Tel the Tank

I've had some success with a very tanky Tel, looking at opinions on modification.

First, my current build.

Determination

Salvaged astromech

Gonk

Punishing one title

Hull upgrade

Good end game build.

Option1 : replace hull upgrade with EI.

Maintain shields without "need" of hull upgrade

Option 2: replace determination with PtL.

Total cost 2 pts more.

2 points are crucial for my current 100 or build.

Thoughts?

Since you're in a fat turret that can spin and fire in any direction without too much difficulty, I recommend Lone Wolf and Recon Specialist. The re-rolls on green dice along with the extra focus tokens will net you more health than Gonk ever did, but they're also upgrades that are equally effective on the offense.


Plan your moves ahead so you don't bump on following turns by engaging in combat with your nose pointed into a safe area.


I really like that version of 50pt Tel, but it obviously depends on the rest of your list. Lone Wolf isn't optimal if you're using the rest of your points on 4x Z-95.

An important thing to keep in mind is that EI is hanging in the balance in regards to whether or not it can be used for Gonk for 1-turn shields anymore. I think your initial configuration is about as good as it gets for the absolute most defensive option for Tel. The important question is how to pair dependable kill potential with that amount of durability - which will be decided by the remainder of your list.

Every time you are attacked Greedo+Deturmination has a 1/3 chance to reduce the damage by 1, and Salvaged Astromech prevents one additinal crit. On the offence, Greedo+Punishing One gives you a Mangler Turret tht gets range bonses at short range.

Hull upgrade is an auto-include on him. It just works so well with his ability. You basically go from 9 hitpoints + 1, to 10 hitpoints + 2.

I've been flying that for a while alongside Kath/Wired/HLC/Experimental Interface/GONK! It's very fun and surprisingly tanky.

Gonk + Experimental Interface has been clarified by the developers and you can no longer use both of Gonk's actions in one round.

This has not been FAQ'd yet, but, once it has been, it will be an official tourney rule. As it stands, due to the developer response, most (not all) TOs/Judges will rule you may not double Gonk.
