Marcy has Special Modifications...

By Maelora, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Can't wait to get this book! This sounds like it is one of the best expansions so far, except for the new races. Seriously, no Jawas?

I bet they'll be in the Bounty Hunter book.

Either that, or there is another Location-type supplement that will feature them.

Had a wicked idea as I was building up my shopping list. What happens if you craft grenades and combine them with Generic Remotes. Floating AI grenades that are happy to blow up for you? EVIL!

Mind you, don't get a despair when building them or you will have to discuss philosophy with them:

Remote controlled explosives are a mainstay of the Imperial Agent in The Old Republic MMO. So I'm very happy to hear that there is now some semi-official support for them outside of duct-taping explosives to existing droids. Haha.

Can you imagine the TIE Fighter pilots reaction when confronted by 3 Veritech X-Wings only to have them launch an enormous number of missiles before shifting into Guardian and then robot mode ducking behind cover on the Star destroyer and sniping them...

Would they die from shock before they got caught in the mix of missiles and laser fire?!

Hmmm, how would you do a Macross Missile Massacre ? Clearly it's mostly a narrative effect, a "And the sky is full of tracers, inexorably leading towards the target. The wing of TIE fighters blossoms like a small sun in a flurry of explosions" sort of way, but mechanically how would you deliver the payload to the target? Call it a missile with the blast quality and make it a low crit value?

Oooh, yeah - I like that.

Actually that feature is in the game already. its the signature ability for Hired guns in dangerous Covenants "Last One Standing". Of course explaining how you fire all those missiles in the first place is how you modify the launchers.

Course anyone that cant get away from them is a minion anyhow.

I know we already got some ideas on a crafted Brawl weapon, but are there allowances for making leg/knee weapons, or is it restricted to fists?

There are shock boots in Fly Casual. They act just the same as the shock gloves, with the exception of costing more. (Harder to make them not shock stuff on the ground, or difficulty of turning the boots on, I guess.)

Kicking is just as much of a brawl check as punching is in my mind, so knock your self out.

you know if you were wearing powered up shock boots and tripped over your own feet, then you might be able to literally knock your self out.

Or kick yourself in the teeth? ;)

Yes. I'm asking about the weapon crafting options.

I know there is a Brawl option for the crafting. I know there are plenty of options to add. All I want to know are some of the particular details. What is it actually called? What are the particulars of the template? Is there only 1 Brawl weapon, or multiple?

What I'm asking for and how I may interpret it are two separate things. Would you kindly not tell me what I may or may not be taking too literally? Please and thank you.

The section is named "brawl and melee weapon crafting" the template table is named "brawl and melee weapon templates". The first entry is called "fist weapon" the materias costs 10 credits and have a rarity of zero, the difficulty is 2 purple and you can use either mechanics or survival to make the check, the time per attempt is 4 hours and the examples given for this category of weapon are brass knuckles and a punch dagger. I think you were taking the entry name "fist weapon" too literally given that the section and table use the word "brawl" and one of the examples is a "punch dagger" (I personally don't see a game mechanical difference between a punch dagger or kick dagger). Every other weapon category on the table is pretty "obviously" primarily a meelee weapon category (although the vibró weapon category would contain vibró knucklers which is a brawl weapon rather than melee weapon)

Alright. That's all I needed to know.

I picked up the book yesterday, and I am quite happy with it. However, I am not at all happy with the over the phone service of my FLGS. I have received at least 4 incorrect answers from them in terms of book availability and delivery dates. They said they would have Special Modifications in by next Wednesday. I wisely disregarded what they said over the phone, having learned my lesson from previous experiences, and checked anyway.
My point is that I would gladly go to any other store if they were within an acceptable distance from my home.

I really like the N-57 armour. Good amount of hard points means for a good benefit to my character. I am also very interested in that modular starfighter. Cheap basic fighter with gallons of hard points.

I remember that! Great crafting system, but that game had a terrible vendor setup.

Here are 2 Qs I have on this book...

Could there be any other way to raise or decrease attributes on a base model droid than w/ just Adv & Suc??

Also could you add another program than just the 1...Could you do 2 things like Navigation & Repair on the same Astromech?? I ask because R2-D2 has both on his but then again he is a nemesis class droid NPC...so just asking Qs

About a year ago, I joined one of the emulator servers that's around. Rekindled my love for that game, and remembered why TOR has never really impressed me. Reminds me...I need to check and make sure my city has enough credits on hand for our maintenance update tonight before our dinner guests arrive....

Ha, nice, that works quite well.

Onto the Modder, how many "increase Sig Vehicle Silhouette" talents are there? Are there any new Sig vehicle talents not seen in Rigger? What other ranked sig vehicle talents are there? Basically just how far can a dedicated Rigger/Modder push the party's ship?

BTW

for those of you following along at home a maxed out moder/rigger could have a silhouette 7 signature vehicle

AKA Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott. ;)

Cybernetics.

5 new ones. I'm ambivalent about cybernetics in Star Wars - we see replacement limbs, and Lobot, but there seems to be a general reluctance to use cyberware just to make oneself more badass. By RAW, there's no reason why anyone with the money wouldn't do it... but we don't see that, do we? I don't want it to be like Shadowrun, so in my game, hatred of droids and cyberware is turned up to 11.

Anyway... that aside, we have:

Biofeedback Regulator: Increases cyberware cap!

Escape Circuit: Droids only, helps slip a restraining bolt

Networked Slicing Uplink: droids only, helps with Slicing, natch

Neural recorder: like a hidden camera in your body

Surge Override Switch: helps you overcome that embarassing moment when Ion weapons take out your cyberware!

Any chance I could get a detailed explanation on what exactly the Override Switch does? I don't need costs or anything, I've just got an NPC that this is perfect for and I'd like to get an idea of what it entails. :-)

So far, with just a quick glance, my favorite part about this book is the "Tools as weapons" lists. I like to play a lot of techs, and these make a lot of sense.

I'm away from book right now but I think that this is the Droid only cybernetic that let's them resist a restraining bolt more easily or even short it out, then there's another cybernetic that let's you turn cybernetics that were shut down by ion weapons by spending strain and maybe making a check... it's one of those two

The original Trek enterprise was probably a silhouette 5 or maybe 6, next generation enterprise was a silhouette 6

All the Enterprises are Sil 6 starships. Even Captain Archer's NX-01 although it is at the bottom end of Sil 6 size starships.
