Actually, um, no, that came out wrong...!

I want everyone to know that in fact I have no cosmetic surgery whatsoever and am 100% natural, middle-aged gamer chick...

But what I do have is the new technician book for EoE. I'm lucky enough to hang out with a lot of game store types, and I get lots of freebies and early copies, but - oddly - rarely FFG stuff. This time I got a free copy early for my services in running games and stuff.

Anyway... what do you guys wanna know...?

Congratulations on getting the book early! And yeah, I like to know what the other people are asking.

How do the slicing rules look? Do they look like they'll play quick while also giving the slicer a significant impact at the table?

I can't help it I...I need my fix, man...those delicious, delicious statistics...I have five whole spreadsheets that need updating, and Thursday is so far away...

I have been wondering if they will re-print the armor crafting rules or if I will still need to pick up the book those are in as well.

Fun. Specs. Making weapons. Making droids. Cybernetics.

Well, 'fun' is kinda a vague concept! Your Mileage May Vary to mine. :)

Specs... Cyber Tech: Athletics, Mechanics, Medicine, Vigilance. Has 4 ranks of a Talent that ups your cyberware cap. Can use repair patches to heal himself. Has an 'Energy Transfer' talent that can power up devices. And 'Overcharge' which allows for overclocking his cyberware.

Droid Tech: Computers, Cool, Mechanics, Leadership. Build your own friends. A lot of 'Speaks Binary' (including Improved and Supreme versions, and healing droids. Plays a lot into the new invention rules, making stuff better, quicker and cheaper.

Modder: Gunnery, Mechanics, Pilot/Space, Streetwise. EoE version of the Rigger, with a lot of the same 'Signature Vehicle' talents. Lots of Tinkerer and Gearhead. A nice Talent that lets you add 2 Hard Points to the Signature Vehicle.

Making stuff: a lot like the Armour rules in Keeping the Peace. Lots of modular options, different categories for types of weapons, shields, etc. Start with a type and add nice stuff using advantages, successes or triumphs.

Same for making droids, NPC droids only! :) Start with a chassis and add stuff, the better your roll, the more stuff you can add. Good and bad rolls also change the droid's quirky personality.

I haven't tried them yet but they look a lot of fun. We have all been waiting for invention rules for a looong time.

How does one start with a companion droid? Are they cheap enough to buy just with stating credits?

Cybernetics.

5 new ones. I'm ambivalent about cybernetics in Star Wars - we see replacement limbs, and Lobot, but there seems to be a general reluctance to use cyberware just to make oneself more badass. By RAW, there's no reason why anyone with the money wouldn't do it... but we don't see that, do we? I don't want it to be like Shadowrun, so in my game, hatred of droids and cyberware is turned up to 11.

Anyway... that aside, we have:

Biofeedback Regulator: Increases cyberware cap!

Escape Circuit: Droids only, helps slip a restraining bolt

Networked Slicing Uplink: droids only, helps with Slicing, natch

Neural recorder: like a hidden camera in your body

Surge Override Switch: helps you overcome that embarassing moment when Ion weapons take out your cyberware!

Specs, as above. I like them. I may have to house rule it so that Modder and Rigger stack, so our two PCs can both augment the same ship and make it even more awesome.

Signature Abilities:

Inventive Creation: Sort of an A-Team thing that lets you build a one-shot device that is Rarity 5 or less. Upgrades can up this to 8, or build a Sil 2 vehicle.

Unmatched Calibration: Spend 2 DP to reroll 2 non-Force dice in a pool. Upgrades make it better and help allies. Seems very useful - think Garrus Vakarian in Mass Effect.

Gear/attachments? A pistol made to enhance Jury Rigging and a Rifle that accepts more mods and is easier to mod. A melee weapon that shorts out electronics.

And a whole bunch of tools that also serve as weapons: Ion Thruster, Multi-Goo Gun, Repulsor Gun, Rivet Gun, Hand Grinder, Welding Rod.

All the Specs lack any real combat skills, though.

There's a utility jumpsuit with a built-in toolkit, Cloaking Coat, N57 Combat Armour that helps recharge your guns, and SoroSuub Hazmat Suit.

Species? They're all ugly freaks and we should kill them with fire! :)

But srsly...

Besalisks: High Brawn, low Agility/Cunning. High wounds, low strain. One rank Resiliance. Multiple arms gives them one more free maneuver per turn to maximum of 2.

Dugs: High Agility, low Presence. Low wounds and strain, one free Brawl rank. One rank of Defensive Driving talent.

Mustafarian: Two kinds. Low Presence, otherwise average. Standard strain, wounds, XP. They both get Twi'lek heat resistance. Northern ones get a free rank of Eye For Detail (suffer strain to improve Mechanics/Computers)

Southern ones get a rank of Enduring.

Random odd question: any of the spec trees have weird connection layouts? Like the Gambler? I always find those interesting.

Standard Fist Weapon template has +1 dmg, Crit 4, Disorient 3. 0 Hardpoints.

With good rolls, you can enhance that by adding Concussive, Knockdown, Pierce, Vicious, Stun, Ensnare, Deflection, Accurate, Sunder, reduce weight, add hardpoints, damage or defence or Crit 3.

So, yeah, if you want a Swiss Army Glove, you can get one that outperforms a lightsaber.
