Hey all! I'm trying to kickstart Armada in my area, specifically at my LGS - Off the Wall Games in Hadley, MA. To drum up interest and try to suck in some new players, I'm hoping to run a larger-scale "intro megabattle" next month. The idea is to have some experienced commanders with large fleets to show up and have plenty of ships on the table for newcomers to drop by, push around some plastic spaceships, roll some dice, and learn a bit about the game.
That being said, I need some help! There are only three Armada players who frequent the store: myself, one guy who's playing in a Blood Bowl tournament that day, and a third person who isn't going to be around. So if any of you live within a decent drive of Hadley and would be willing to bring your spacemans up for a good scrap (and help with running the event), I'd be eternally grateful. The date is shaping up to be Saturday, April 16th. Exact start time is still in the works, but I'm thinking around noon until about five.
If any of you live too far away to assist, or just aren't available, I could also use some help hammering out the event details. Here's what I'm thinking so far:
The game will be centered on a single, large table (size TBD by people who sign up ahead of time). Players who want to bring their own ships can assemble a force using the following rules:
- No more than 150pts
- No more than three ships
- No ship upgrades
- No unique squadrons
- No more than four squadrons
The rules are restrictive, but by design. Since there will be a lot of players very new to the game, we don't want to clutter up the works with tons of upgrades and special rules, nor bog things down with a single player having lots of activations.
Don't have a fleet? Fear not! There will be plenty of ships on hand, divided into battlegroups similar in size to the restrictions above for new players.
So TL;DR - I'm putting together an intro game on a megabattle scale. Each player will be responsible for a handful of ships and squadrons, and can come and go as they please. I need a few players that don't live too far from Hadley, MA to come up for the day with their fleets to help out. So let me know if you're interested! And if you have any comments/recommendations, don't hesitate to reply.
