How does Eddard (Tower of Hand) work with I'm You Writ Small? My understanding is that if I'm You Writ Small attempts to give a character with a noble crest deadly, you can cancel that. I would think that the event is then discarded and cannot be attached to a character...the "then" cannot be satisfied because the first part was not successful. Is this accurate? In addition, can Eddard cancel the "then" attach effect separately? (For example, if the event gave a non-noble crest character deadly but then tried to attach to a noble-crested character, can Eddard cancel the second part?)

Let me ask it this way: Suppose "I'm You Writ Small" didn't have the 'then' and simply read "Challenges: Choose a character. Until the end of the phase, that character gains deadly. Attach I'm You Writ Small to a [Lan] character (counts as...." If you canceled the "give deadly" part, what happens to the rest of it? It's canceled, right? Because when you cancel an effect, you cancel everything in that effect.

So yeah, if Eddard canceled the "give deadly" part, you wouldn't get to attach anything. Not just because the part before the 'then' was unsuccessful, but because Eddard canceled the whole effect, including the attaching part.

Think of it this way: If you play "Writ Small" and there is a Lannister character on the table (that can take attachments), can you choose to play the event for the deadly, but then refuse to resolve the attaching part and just discard the event? No, because choosing to play the event initiates the whole effect. Once triggered, you have to resolve it. If you could cancel the attaching separately from the "give deadly," you could also choose not to attach the card in the first place after playing the event, even when there are characters available.

From a flavor perspective what is I'm You Writ Small anyway? What exactly happens in the "story?" It's such a weird sentence...

"I'm you writ[ten] small" is what Tyrion says before he kills his father. So while he might be small, Tyrion's as dangerous and ambitious as his father Tywin. So flavour-wise, you should play this card on Tyrion.
