R5-P8 has no range limit. He doesn't care if you're Darth Vader at R1, Soontir Fel at R3, or a CR-90 at R5. He always has a 50/50 chance of tagging you for a point of damage.

If you're flying a Palp/Aces list, you are going to be very nervous if you see this thing lined up in front of you.

If you're that worried about taking damage, then bring Gonk along in the crew slot.

For comparison:

3pts for mines or bombs that might do damage if you can get a highly mobile ship NOT to outfly you (and most likely your toilet seat)

3pts for this droid that has the potential to do damage to ANY ship that shoots at you (ya know, the thing that they want to do). If you are a fan of mines/bombs...this is for you in non action, non position dependent form. It might just hit you though...same as some bombs.

I contest the "will trigger more often" assertion. You have to successfully block in order to get APL to proc. This will occur less often than getting shot at in the majority of games.

As someone already mentioned, R5-P8 makes the opponent think before shooting. I ran Dengar with R5-P8 recently in a Store Champ, and my opponent chose not to shoot with Fel because of R5-P8 alone.

Well, R5-P8 shoots at its own pilot on a crit roll, and I consider that pretty bad.

I find the Contracted Scout with Anti-Pursuit Lasers to be a very interesting option for only 27 points.

Add Intimidation, and you've got one hell of a blocker.

It's the dot before the name that makes them unique. In general, all of the Astromechs with a "-XX" in their names happen to be unique.

It isn't a Scum only card but it is an upgrade for a slot that only Scum ships have.

I have had fun wiht my Denny and the Jets list with him in it. IN arc you are taking the Denny return shot, AND the Droid too. probably the droid first to have a chance at weakening the sheilds, then Denny. Plus the bugg zappers. It was fun zapping a ghost out of the game
