Guri, U-Boat list, which upgrades are better for this combo?

By Obsidian Leader, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Tried out my U-Boat, Guri and Thug list again this weekend. Stresshog tore it to ribbons.

Jumpmaster (scout) - Proton Torps, Extra Munitions, Deadeye, R4 Agromech, Guidance Chips. 34

StarViper (Guri) - Predator, Virago, Sensor Jammer, AT (40)

Y-Wing (Thug) - TLT, R4-Agro (26).

I keep getting stress on the U-Boat and it either never fires its second torpedo, or it can't fire at all as it tries to line up a non-turret shot. Lending any assistance to the beleaguered Y-Wing impossible. While I love the StarViper I am having issues flying her (I know it's my fault) and her maneuvers leave it difficult (at least in the games I have played) to not only arc-dodge, but to keep in firing arc while simultaneously not flying into an asteroid. If she gets stressed, forget about it.

I was thinking of ditching the EPT and mech on the scout in favor of the K4-Security droid. I know that it drops the hit chance a bit without the TLok re-rolls but the Proton Torps and chips allow for a decent amount of damage, while performing a green maneuver will give me the T-Lock I need even while stressed.

Any thoughts as what else to make this more competitive verses stresshogs?

While on the topic, I am not impressed with Virago/Jammer combo on Guri. Anyone fly her differently? Alternate ideas for her build?

What don't you like about jammer on Guri? She becomes pretty tanky, especially if you are getting that range 1 focus.

But, if it isn't working for you, you can always PTL/Adv Sensors on her. I think it is harder, but when it works it is pretty nuts.

I've always liked Predator/Adv Sensors. I know sensor jammer is great defense, but Guri is good at one thing, massacring generic ships. Adv Sensors gives her the ability to arcdodge one, intentionally bump another, and kill a third before it shoots.

When you face other U-boats, many have Recon specialists which mitigates the effectiveness of sensor jammers. There will also be a lot more proton torpedoes which can make sensor jammer an outright BAD idea to use.

I'd switch the R4 agro to an unhinged, and run Guri with Predator, Adv Sensors, Autothrusters, and Cloaking Device.

If you are struggling with positioning for Guri, I suggest practicing on you kitchen table. This applies to all positional ships too (stuff w/ boost/BR). Set up your ship against an enemy group. Don't play a real game, you're only interesting in finding spots on the board for Guri to go where she can't get shot (or at most, only 1 arc on her). In order to do this well, you have to get good at predicting what your opponent thinks your best move is, and then what his best move will be to counter that. No matter what though, you also have to start thinking 2 moves ahead. You won't have to worry about landing Guri on a rock (or getting her blocked up) if you thought about those things the turn before and positioned Guri accordingly.

I like running my Guri with Push the Limit and Accuracy Corrector. With AC, I can use both my actions to reposition into Range 1 and use my free focus token for defense. Seems to work pretty well for me.

It works even better with advanced sensors, because then you end your turn without any stress (when use green moves) and you have the option of taking an action before red moves, bumping, or going over asteroids.
